This was my first time going here today 7/16/23 and it most certainly will not be my last! this place is amazing, Hands down best diner I’ve been to in years! The staff each and every one of them are so kind and attentive! Makes you feel like your family when you walk in and when you are walking out! The food was just as good! My partner and I got a waffle with strawberries on it, and an omelette and breakfast sandwich, it was all delicious! Love the atmosphere and how everyone seemed to be constantly restocking or cleaning if they weren’t with a customer! The staff are an actual family who run and work there from what I gathered! These are the places that need to stay open! Don’t hesitate, just go!!

A funny thing
I never pass up a good diner. This is a gem in Waterloo, looks family run. Which is a rare thing these days. Very chill laid back atmosphere. You don’t feel rushed. The cook looked like he loved his job and prepared every meal with great skill and an air of joy. If you’re in the area give it a try. I’m sure we’ll be back soon while we’re still in Cedar Falls.

Went there for the 1st time on 2/5/23 between 12:10pm-1:10pm. Spent 40 minutes waiting to get a table with 5 separate parties ahead.. if post-covid short staffed wasn’t an issue they can definitely hold another 3-4 booths in this one gap that holds a handful of chairs as a part of the waiting area & just move those waiting chairs closer to the door with putting up a wall to divide the booths from that. Part from that the staff was friendly & the food was good while being reasonably priced.

A great old fashioned diner. Comfort foods done the right way. The owner is right there working with the staff. She employs some special needs people as busboy/cleaners. They are treated with respect by all the staff and owner. Thanks for hiring those with special needs.

It’s family owned business. This family communicable. They talk to you ask how everything was even of they are not your server. Very delicious food. Couldn’t ask for anything better for a family run diner. We need more like Gravys diner.

Food was ok. Be prepared to shower because your hair and clothes will stink like old grease. Won’t be going back because of the smell. Should have left the minute I opened the door and smelled it.

You know when a place is only open for certain hours that they are going to be good. Well Gravy’s was GREAT! Food was piping hot as it was literally served to us right off the grill. Sooo good. Got the breakfast melt and it just melted in my mouth. It was so interesting to be able to see them make the food right in front of our table. The staff is so in sync and work so efficiently. The servers were attentive and very friendly!
