Great Wall of China South here in Carmel Commons! This is one of the oldest Chinese Restaurants in Charlotte. I’ve heard their name over and over around my community. I was excited to try for the first time and duck and vegetables are amazing! Excellent service ‼️

I moved to Charlotte a year ago and truthfully I haven’t tried much Chinese food because a lot of people told me it’s nothing near as good as New York’s Chinatown. I finally find found something that came pretty close. Really enjoyed Great Wall of China South in Charlotte, North Carolina. The service was really spectacular and the food was fantastic. The hot and sour soup was a little bland but I had the fantasy shrimp which is the same dish I had in New York called Grand Marnier shrimp. I also had cold sesame noodles and the noodles had amazing texture and the sauce was a perfect consistency. My friend had the trio with garlic sauce and that tasted really good as well. Will definitely go back.

Nope, Raw chicken, the ones that were completely cooked didn’t taste good according to they family. Grab Rangoon was odd filling, the shell was good. I was excited to order because I saw it was vegetarian friendly. So I ordered the “crispy tofu”, it was jello texture fell apart, and tasted weird. I have been searching for good Chinese food at a reasonable price and have been wanting to try this place for a long time. We ordered the steamed pork dumplings, sesame chicken, and kung Pao chicken. The dumplings were tasty and had a good amount of filling. The sauce of the Kung Pao chicken was basic and salty of soy sauce but not “flavorful” if that makes sense. The sesame chicken was slightly crispy and not drowning in sauce (a good thing). The flavor was good but it was slightly too sweet for my taste. The service was excellent! I may come back to try other dishes.

I’ve, literally, been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid. There’s no doubt they’ve been thru some ups and downs during that time, (been open for 40 years!)! I’m shocked by some of the reviews I’m reading. Clearly people from the same table are posting repeatedly, others about random things, giving one star over the price of soda water while at the same time raving about how great the food and service was! I mean, ???? I’m confused by the general lack of perspective and sheer maliciousness of some people! But welcome social media and everyone is entitled to their opinion, so here’s mine…
