Best fried chicken around. The chicken chunks and chicken basket is crispy and juicy. The coleslaw is sweet and crunchy, chicken salad very flavorful and the sides are decent in sizes in portions.

Can’t believe how bad this place is… I ordered 2 breast 2 thighs mashed potatoes, gravy. The supposed moist chicken ever, was in fact the driest, tasteless i have ever consumed, it’s almost as if it was prepared the day before and reheated….GARBAGE!! My wife had clam strips that were absolutely tasteless… $50.00 with tip!! You specialize in chicken, what a joke!!! Looking back on it I don’t know how this place passes a health inspection… don’t believe, go look for yourself. It’s unbelievable how this place got voted Best Fried Chicken in Ct Magazine and others. Good Luck hope you have a better experience than we did.

As a Bristol resident, every time I drive by the place, my stomach just churns. Went there with high hopes since a lot of people had recommended the place. Ordered the chicken leg and thighs to go, along with some liver and gizzards. The good things first: the staff at the counter was very nice and friendly. The chicken liver and gizzards were awesome! Now the bad: I made the mistake of thinking the chicken was going to be as great as the liver and gizzard. But damn! The chicken was definitely not cooked properly. The “smell” was there with each bite. Then couple of pieces looked slight pinkinsh. There were little to no seasonings. It felt like I was biting into almost raw chicken, the smell didn’t help either. Apparently u don’t have to work too hard to mess up fried chicken. I had spent about $70 in total and I can assure u it wasn’t my wallet who was feeling that pain; my tastebuds and stomach hated me for the next few days.

I was hesitant to try it due to many recent reviews mentioning how things have gone downhill since the place was sold. I never had it before the changeover so I can’t compare, however, this chicken was “ok” at best. It had almost no flavor at all. Frankly, Popeyes is much better. The chicken was also pretty dry, especially the white meat. The pieces of chicken are small, however it’s not that expensive so it is a fair value.

Best friend chicken hands down. Still need to bring their baked beans back to the old recipe, thick!! Too watery right now. Chicken livers are amazing

This time the macaroni and potato salad didn’t have a taste like it usually does. Not sure if they changed something or just this time happened to not be flavored. Love the chicken, livers and gizzards. Onion rings were awesome.

Bought some chicken, fried mushroom, and some chunks. They all tasted the same, like they use the same batter for everything. The problem is they just did not taste good. The chicken was weirdly dry with no skin, and I didn’t know if it was undercooked or overcooked. There was just something off about it, like freezer burn stuff. I will likely not be going back, it’s just not good at all. I gave it 2 stars cause it was at least puppy edible, no coating of course…

I have been going to Greer’s since I met my wife 30 years ago, and she has been going her entire life. The food has always been great. Unfortunately, since Rich (I believe) has been gone, the food quality has declined. Got Southern fried wings and Buffalo chunks last night. My wife, son, and daughter complained that the wings did not taste good and my daughter ended up getting sick. Not sure if it is the recipes, fryer oil, or standards that have changed, but please go back to what it used to be. Reach out to Rich if needed, he clearly always cared, and probably still does.

Always was the best place for chicken, sadly since the new owner took over things have declined some. To start the skin is no longer crispy and delicious but more importantly ever order I have placed since the change has been missing or incorrect. My commute to Greers is 35 minutes, I don’t have the ability to drive back all the time so I have started looking for a new establishment. Get your stuff together management!
