We went in for a quick meal, and it turned into an experience ! Music , dancing in the isles with ” Doc ” the owner . It turned into a street party with the other diners, everyone eating , drinking and dancing and it was on a Monday ! Also , great food at great prices. Excellent attentive staff also . The man playing and singing had a wonderful voice, and the entire place had a relaxing, fun atmosphere. Will definitely make it a regular stop . Very well decorated with lively tropical themes .

Update from my first review below: I don’t know what happens but I came back after about a month and everything changed with the food. This time basically the food didn’t have flavor first time we order 2 mofongos and they were fill with the pork and it was delicious this time there was nothing inside. The presentation wasn’t even close to the first time so I am guessing the chef change. Other plates we ordered didn’t like. This is not a cheap place and I was happy to pay the first time last time I felt like I lost my money. I will advise to go back to what you were doing.

It was my first time here. The food was great. We were the only table. The server was friendly. Decor is really nice. They have live music, but not the night I was there. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was their tres leches cake, is dry. I recommend this place for some good puertorican food. Don’t tell my mom I was here eating puertorican food that she didn’t cook. Lol.

This restaurant is new to the area and it shows. We arrived as they were opening the doors and were greeted immediately and warmly. The decor is definitely nostalgic and on point. The service was prompt and courteous. The food, however, was a little disappointing. The appetizer dish of 4 alcapurrias was small, and the alcapurrias lacked meat (ciegas). Good flavor, but they definitely could use improvement. The mofongo with chicken in salsa criolla was good and plentiful. The biggest disappointment was the mofongo with churrasco. I ordered the churrasco medium, and it came out well done instead. I didn’t want to point it out to the waitress, but I had to. This dish is not inexpensive. When I mentioned it to her, she said she knew it wasn’t my order, but since she “saw it ready and sitting there, she brought it out to me anyway”!!! What? She took it back. The second time around, it was a little better. However, the churrasco comes out sliced, and I wonder how much of the actual piece of churrasco you get. When I order a churrasco, I want to see the entire piece of meat on my plate! Not sliced, ever! On top of all of that, the orders came out separately! The 1st dish she brought was the well-done churrasco for me, but my husband’s food was missing. She took back the well-done churrasco and out came my husband’s dish! Now I was sitting with no food. I guess she felt badly, so she brought out some garlic bread “on the house,” which was good, thank God. Then, finally, my medium churrasco showed up after my husband was done eating. Definitely, more training is needed in both kitchen and service areas. Good luck!

Guavate…. came here in hopes of pleasant memories of my culture. Visually was quaint and decor nostalgic with the tables that looked like dominos, dim lighting, and tropical plants.

Came here a few weeks ago and I can say I definitely enjoyed my time there and the food was excellent. Everything was tasteful and the staff were all friendly. The atmosphere almost makes you forget you’re in central Florida. Only thing I wish they had was a full bar menu but besides that it was a great time. Will go back again soon.
