My first time here, I ate my sub at the counter and a man spontaneously started talking to me about what life was like in this area back in the 80’s. I feel like that’s not something you see a lot anymore and it was very welcome. The sub itself was fantastic, and extremely generously sized, especially for only $8.75. I tip generously because it is deserved. An Italian sub made by an Italian man in the most Italian part of town of an already Italian city? The next time I want a sandwich, I’m coming here.

Nonantum gem. Love the old school Italian vibe this place has. The lady behind the counter is short and abrasive, the sub shop hasn’t been updated in decades – it’s great and super authentic. The subs are huge and fairly priced. Will definitely be back again soon!

Honestly the best spicy Italian I’ve ever had. They slice the meat right into the roll. They also use their own garden vegetable mix from the owners garden. The owners are so sweet. I love it here!

Definitely one of the best options in Newton. Bird and Berry sandwich is consistently great and the steak & cheese much better than the typical you’ll find around here. Specials change frequently as far as I can tell, and the owner is friendly.

Good subs done simple. They have a few other options on the menu such as pasta and salad, but the feature is always gonna be a meal between bread. Despite being inexpensive, they’re always fresh and use high quality ingredients. The decor reminded me a lot of a diner, and the place was spotless. Friendly and quick service. Good spot with street parking out front or on the adjacent side street.

The sub shop has been around since the 60s. The original owner always make the subs right there fresh and tasty. Now the owners who took over still make the subs the same way. Great local food.
