Dinner Saturday July 1st. NY Strip was amazing, baked potato was one of best I’ve ever had, and the spinach/artichoke casserole was excellent. This isn’t fine dining, you get your meal on a chinet plate, there’s community tables in main building, and you have to bring your own wine. Place is laid back and fun with good live music. A must if you’re near the area.

I’ve heard a lot about this place and I was not disappointed! Nestled in a very small, remote town about 40 minutes outside of Jackson, H.D. Gibbes is a unique experience you won’t forget combining great food with southern charm. The building is rustic and decorated with antiques and quirky finds. The steaks were delicious and served on paper plates which adds to the whole quirkiness of the experience. You can bring your own wine and they will provide cups and a bottle opener. There is a trough of beer that you can help yourself to, and they ask that you keep the caps and pay for it later, by the honor system (what other restaurant does this ). Some of the tables are community style, and you can sit elbow to elbow with new folks. It has a family vibe with true southern charm. You may have to wait a while for a table, and they don’t take reservations for parties of less than 6, but you can sit out on the porch while listening to live music, watch the sun set, and crack open your own bottle of wine while you wait. Overall, it was a great experience definitely worth trying.

Out in the middle of nowhere you can get the true old south eating experience here. Sitting in a room where the warm outside flows in through a screened seating area you will enjoy a meal that is truly exceptional. I am a very picky steak eater. I don’t want a bunch of seasoning messing with the flavor of a great steak. Their steak not only was cooked to perfection but seasoned so the great taste of steak was the dominate flavor.

Pretty good little spot. Bit pricey for the lack of frills. Good steak, go for the live music and country store atmosphere and grab a decent meal while your there type place.

So let me begin by saying, I LOVE this place. The menu is simple and every dish is done well. However, this has begun to be a VERY popular spot as word continues to spread about them. Wait times for a table spot can be long. On top of that is the summer weather of Mississippi. The original area of the store is air conditioned, the add-on is not. So not only are you having to wait in the soul-sucking heat outside for a table, but if you are seated in the new addition, you will now have fans on you, but still no AC.

This place is incredible! A true oasis, it’s pretty well the only thing for miles. A hardware store by day, and steak place by evening, this unique family owned piece of history is a must have on any travel list. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and it is rustic but surprisingly clean. I’m not sure how often it happens, but when we went they had live music that added a lot also. The bathrooms are nice, the staff is polite and cheerful, and the food wait is moderate but not too long (about average for any decent restaurant). Even if it took a while, the food is well worth the wait. Portion sizes are good. Filling, but with a chance of leftovers depending on your appetite. Just save room for desert too! Try to get there close to 5pm if you can. We arrived at 5:30 and it was already filling up. By the time we left there was a fair line out the door, but there is a lot of seating and a lot of parking to accommodate patrons. 10/10 would visit again! Highly recommend stopping by. Expect to spend about $35 or $40/person.

This place is a hidden gem. The food was amazing and the staff was wonderful. The vibe was on point. If you looking for a little different and a way from the crowd place just out side jackson. This is the place for you and your friend. Cash only no credit or debit cards. 20$-30$ a person. Totally worth it I am going back!

I drove 4 hours to try the steak. It was great. Everyone was friendly and the customer service was top notch. Everyone there worked good as team. Which was good to see because I am in the restaurant business. They are Cash or check only. I will definitely be back. If you are going, get there time they open. If not you will be on a wait. However the table turn around is quick.

Last 2 times we went were bad experiences. Steak burnt Unfit to eat. The last time we brought family who were very excited to come as they had heard wonderful things. 2 out of 4 our steaks were over cooked We complained to management to no avail. All we got in reply , “we are so sorry.” Needless to say we were very embarrassed that our family had a bad experience also.
