I used to come here a lot when I lived in Orange. I really missed this restaurant living in Riverside. Now that I am moving back to The OC, I can enjoy the food once again. Their fish is breaded just right. Not overwhelming on the crust, fish is tender and moist, their fries are delicious and I’m extremely picky with fries, their round shrimp is always delicious and the batter is light like the fish, and their fried clams are still great to this day. The fish and clams always bring back great childhood memories with my mom going to H. Salt. Honestly, with how friendly, courteous, and amazing the staff are coupled by outstanding food, I wish I could give 10 stars. To sum it up, if you have yet to try this place, I recommend the Captain’s Combo, which gives you two fish, 1 shrimp, and chips. I obviously recommend the fried clams, too. Don’t forget your tarter sauce (separate charge here) and malt vinegar. 10/5 stars from me.

my son and I went yesterday, it was our first time coming here….the guy was by himself taking orders and cooking at the same time, he didn’t washed his hands after collecting money, also he didnt gave me a chance to ask for onion rings instead of fries because he left me with the word in my mouth and didn’t give me a chance to request it. later an old woman came out and helped him and she was scratching her head while cooking, lol both are very unsanitary people to be honest

The food is very good. The batter on the fish, onion rings and zucchini is light. I personally think they have the best zucchini. It’s an automatic every time I go here. Most deep fried batter is heavy but this place has a very good recipe.

Perfectly battered and fried perfectly. Shrimp is crispy and delicious. Clam strips are meaty and battered perfectly. The fried zucchini is also perfectly fried. Batter is stuck on the zucchini. Great place for fried fish lovers. Reminds me of Pioneer chicken batter.
