Hakane is a fantastic place with fantastic food. Tucked away in a quiet corner of beautiful and peaceful Ojai, you’ll find a funky little house that’s populated by smooth jazz, sweet sake, sweeter servers (Azlyn is especially magical), and excellent sushi and Japanese cuisine—served up with love at an affordable price. I particularly enjoy the teriyaki beef hot plate here. Delicious! Check out Hakane soon. Thank me later.

One of the worst Japanese meals I have ever had and I found a black plastic bag in my salad!!! Although the waitress was apologetic she did nothing to compensate us and had to be told to take it off the bill. Very disappointing meal.

Party city meets nobu in the ojai burbs? But seriously where do I begin? Generous portions, great fish, five star presentation? Check. Soothing Hawaiian music and friendly conversation in the air? Check. Wacky decorations and maybe some dead fish with dollar bills in their mouths? Check. A calm, cool and collected staff? You better believe it. Whatever this bill is, I’m paying double. Mediocre sushi and hands down the worst service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I understand young people need jobs and that typically lands in the service industry. Train your people and have a standard of service. My date ordered 3 things, one of which never showed up. When brought to the attention of the server we never received an answer as to where it was. Small rolls. The fish was lacking in quality as well. Sad to say. This place has gone way down hill over the years.
