Fried fish was excellent! It Was cooked and seasoned to perfection..& tasted light (not super breaded like other places) My fiancé had scallops. I don’t even eat scallops, but I tried his…we had to get more. Oh AND the ranch for the side salad was homemade. Delish…of course I forgot to take pic until basically everything was already eaten

If you are looking for an eclectic dining experience go elsewhere. If you fancy good service go elsewhere especially when you see the prices of the food you would think that good service comes with it. Not the case. Arrived at 7. Got seated right away. 10 minutes later, we give drink orders. The server returns a while 10 minutes (i think) later with a coke and a cocktail drink. I overheard the table behind me were disappointed that no taco shells so no fish tacos. So we Ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. 35 minutes later, the entrees arrived about 1 minute before the apps. So what’s the point of an appetizer if you’re serving it with the entrees? We were offered a discount ( $3 off an $18 app). This is where we are left for the duration of our time. No server asking do we need something, drink refills, nothing. In fact they basically ignored us until it was time to pay the check. They were Johnny on the spot to collect the money. They communicated with us to get our order and then to get out. That’s it.

For months I have seen them post pictures on a community Facebook page and it always looked really good. So we decided to take a little drive and go try them out. For us being in Glen Allen were about 30 minutes away. The staff was super friendly and they were a little busy so we ended up sitting outside. Unfortunately, I don’t know with all the recent rain there was kind of an unpleasant smell so once we tell the waitress, they made a table for us to go inside. They brought us a little basket of homemade potato chips with some sort of aioli sauce which all of that was very yummy. I ordered the broiled seafood platter, my wife and daughter ordered the snow crab dinner, my son got their special shrimp Cajun pasta. The only real issue I had was that it took an extremely long time for us to get our food. I’m not sure what was going on, it seems like maybe something was forgotten not really sure but there were a few tables that came in after us and received their food way before us. I think it was just an anomaly oh, and I think they realized it as well. On the snow crab dinners you were supposed to only get one cluster of legs and both my wife and daughter got to. They never mentioned it but I think it was a we’re sorry here’s a little extra. Everything was super tasty. My daughter loves snow crab legs and we get them quite a bit and sometimes they’re very difficult do steam just right. This place has it down, both my wife and daughter or able to pull huge chunks out of the legs. The white fish that they had on the broiled seafood platter was amazing! I eat quite a bit of fish and Whitefish can sometimes just be you know just white fish but this was one of the best I’ve ever had. The sea scallops were nice and big and plump. All the food was great no one was disappointed at all!. We even got a basket of hush puppies and those were amazing as well. My wife also mentioned that she didn’t know what type of butter they used but it was the most amazing butter she had ever had with the snow crab legs. I would highly recommend making the trip to come check this place out. The owner came out and met with us as well she was super friendly oh, this is a great seafood restaurant!

Ever since we discovered Halterman’s, over a year and a half ago, we eat there at least once a week. They are over a 20 min drive but WORTH the trip! We take all our friends there and recommend Halterman’s to clients. We’ve had almost every item on their menu and have NEVER been disappointed. Both the servers and kitchen staff are very kind and attentive. I HIGHLY recommend Halterman’s to everyone!

This place is a hidden gem. Always amazing food and service. It’s a 45 minute drive for us to get here, but definitely worth it. My favorites are the spoon bread, hush puppies, and any steak special they have.

First time dining at Halterman’s and we will definitely return soon. We have enjoyed seafood at many seafood restaurants in Virginia and Maryland but this restaurant in definitely one of the best. It was clean, service was great, food was plentiful and absolutely delicious! We ordered 1/2 pound steamed shrimp (they were jumbo) as an appetizer and one fried seafood platter to split for dinner. My husband had a side salad that was large, fresh and delicious. He also had a delicious baked potato, loaded. I had greens which were also excellent. The seafood platter was huge and perfectly cooked. We had 4 large fried shrimp, 3 scallops, one crab cake and two very large pieces of fish and hush puppies. We took enough leftovers home for another meal. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Bring a big appetite and enjoy! This is a gem of a restaurant!
