This is one of the most authentic sushiya experiences one can have in Los Angeles.

Not allowed to take pictures but I noticed the sign too late, so I still have some photos. Really good atmosphere!

My cousin recommended this place upon recommendation from a good friend of hers. We were really hungry and debating what to eat when she remembered she really wanted to eat here. I didn’t mind too much since I’m always down for sushi.

I absolutely love Hama. It feels like you are in the old part of Japan, nothing has changed over the last 20+ years. Which means the food is authentic, and high quality. The atmosphere is amazing, enjoy it with friends and good conversation (do not take out your cellphone, do not leave it on the counter, put it on silent).

This place was wonderful. I was on the hunt for sushi in Little Tokyo and stumbled upon this place. The sushi was super fresh, service was impeccable too. I really enjoyed watching my food being made in front of me! We will most definitely be coming back.

The fish is super fresh. The chef is authentic and kind. Their Tamaki Negitoro and Kinnedai is the best. If you go on your own, there is a higher chance you can get a seat without waiting!

only a handful seats so be prepared to wait. we got lucky on a weekday night and got seated within 15 minutes even though we anticipated a 45 minute wait. my favorites were the hand rolls, the fatty tuna belly, their spicy tuna maki, and sweet shrimp and uni of course.

The goal is to eat great sushis and sashimi. Don’t expect a service checking on your comfort every 3 minutes. You follow their rules, including no pictures, no possibility to take home a paper menu, place your glass at the right place…. But quality is awesome. More expensive than a burger, but cheap compared to equivalent quality sushi place.

One of the most joyful dining experiences I’ve ever had. Everything was so simple and fresh. We felt really energized afterwards despite eating so much. Service staff and chefs were considerate and efficient. They know that what they serve is good and know there’s no need for bells and whistles. No phones or cameras here. No special modifications or off menu items. The typical power dynamic between customer and service staff is leveled, making for a much more intimate and enriching experience.
