The food is pretty authentic, it is a relief for a person like me who occasionally misses the TRUE Chinese food available nearby. Good taste at affordable prices! But well… it is way too salty and I find the rice noodle here always come overcooked. Doesn’t have that firm/chewy texture I love about 湖南米粉! Really hope the restaurant will improve on these, then it will be awesome I will eat here everyday.

Stopped in to take out some highly regarded Hunan food. It did not disappoint.

The place was packed with mostly Asians (students since it’s near Columbia?) on a midweek lunch. There is a reasonable lunch special ($10-11) that includes a 6oz soup. The Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce was spicy (I asked for “a little spicier” in Chinese) and flavorful with the ‘right’ vegetables (bamboo shoots, onions carrots celery?, not whatever veg-on-sale that is a filler to make the dish look big) albeit more vinegary than I’m used to. The Fish fillet with Ginger and Scallions was tasty and the fish tender. Both with a good amount of sauce for the rice. The Sweet and Sour Soup was a little bland (not sour enough, not enough earthy mushroom taste) and spicy, but, was too gelatinous (too much corn starch) and tasted too much like chicken bouillon. I would return to try other dishes.

Delicious food. We ordered a ramen soup, duck and Singapore Noodle. Greatly enjoyed. Gave a lower start on atmosphere because the door slams loudly (try to sit away from door) and there is no music. Perhaps it is meant to be quiet for talking.

I imagine for a lot of New Yorkers, “Hunan Style” Chinese food doesn’t mean anything. I grew up on San Francisco Chinese food, which is famous for Hunan style. Eating here makes me nostalgic. It is authentic. Highly recommend the smoked pork with bamboo shoots. Absolutely delicious!

disgusting. thin black hair in soup (not mine) so they’re not using head coverings or hair nets, and the food is par cooked ahead of time. The general tso’s entree was rock hard and dry as sand. I would have waited for fresh food. I was so disappointed. The soup tastes and smells like dirty sink water I’m so upset. You wouldn’t feed what you gave me to a goat. What happened? I don’t care how busy it is take something off the menu don’t serve people garbage I’m so disappointed with you guys I’m not even exaggerating or being dramatic this is embarrassing.

I’m not sure I’ve ever had better food in New York than what I consistently get here. I especially recommend the veggie dishes and Hunan specials.

Very kind people I wanted tea but under usual conditions it is served with food. The cashier said he could give it to me for 1.63 and after he came back to tell me his manager said FREE! Excellent service I’d give them 10 stars

I know a number of people who passed on this place due to its appearance, but it is by far the best Chinese food on the upper west side. Strongly recommend. Beef with scallion and onion is especially tasty and savory
