The criteria searched for that brought us here was actually igloo rentals! We wanted to have a dining experience inside a heated igloo (while outside of course), and the options that seemed the best included places in Bethel and Bangor, but Portland was closer….

The hostess and our waitress were lovely and attentive. But the food was terrible and extremely overpriced. Our shrimp cocktail consisted of Walmart shrimp with ketchup, the steak was overcooked, and the fries were as if they came out of a bag and had salt and Parmesan cheese thrown over them, and the oysters were WARM. For what the cost of the food our party expected at least Mediocre food and we were VERY let down.

Please go anywhere else if you want to enjoy a meal in Portland. Atmosphere was nice. The scallops were terrible. I would have preferred taco bell sauce to the “leche de tigre” that comes with it($17). The steak on the steak fries was cooked well, but had no flavor and depended on a sauce that tasted like instant boullion($40). If you are the owners, I beg you to taste the food you are serving and hire a new chef.

Nestled within the Portland Harbor Hotel, this seafood restaurant is a great for a quiet but elegant meal. The service was excellent and we felt welcome from the moment we entered. The seafood is only the freshest, including amazingly tender calamari and freshly-made salmon ravioli in a decedant sauce. Desserts were amazing too. And I have to add the bartender makes some of the best cocktails around.

I don’t just give out 5 stars, so the fact that 2 out of 3 categories were 5 stars says something. Service was outstanding. The server was attentive and fun! The igloos are probably a servers’ nightmare, but she killed it for us. The igloos themselves were a little on the jenky side for what I was expecting… but then they would have been too much money for the likes of me. Overall experience was great and would do it again. The food was delicious but serving sizes left you wanting which is the main driver of the 4 star rating. Try it out it’s worth the experience.

If you’re looking for great calamari, you have found your place! The calamari fries are AWESOME! Lobster roll is over priced and sub par, but wow the calamari and the peach mule blew me away. Also, if the weather is good make sure you go out on the patio, its beautiful and the fire is divine!

We had an incredible experience here! I reserved an igloo for my husband’s birthday and we all loved it! The food was amazing we ate every bite, the ambiance in the igloo was so cool, and even though it was the coldest night on record we were pretty cozy in there with the blankets and space heaters! Went inside after for some coffee and dessert to warm up a bit and even those were delicious! Danica was absolutely wonderful, I had a million questions trying to plan the whole surprise and was anxious about the cold, but she reassured me and made our night even better when she showed up as our waitress!! Highly recommended this spot, we will definitely be back.

We stayed at the Portland Harbor Hotel. On our last day we decided to try breakfast at the Blue Fin. The food was outstanding. However-the prices and service not so much. I have some dietary restrictions. I ordered egg whites and 2 pieces of French toast plain. I asked for sugar free syrup, but they didn’t have any. The bill arrived and I was charged $27.00 for the order. When we asked for further explanation she said we charge $4.00 per egg (I ordered 3) and she wasn’t sure how to ring in the French toast so she just charged us for the French toast breakfast. She said there wasn’t a manager around or anyone to help so there wasn’t anything she could do. My review is to caution you if you have restrictions for eating or want a more budget friendly meal or some good service. Other than that. The food was good.

Very good food here! My wife and I stayed at the Portland Harbor Hotel this summer, and ended up dining here. While we liked Scales slightly more, this was easily our 2nd favorite restaurant on our vacation. The food was done very well (some of the best salmon I’ve had), and the outside dining is in a nice little courtyard/garden in the middle of the hotel. Very intimate.
