We were about to hit Bay City on our road trip and my friend mentioned that she’d heard some of the best coffee shops in the entire state of Michigan was there. And that’s how we made our way to Harless + Hugh, an adorable coffee shop with a chic minimalist/scandanavian aesthetic and delicious espresso drinks and sweet treats. My iced chocolate latte and gingerbread cookie were fantastic. I also got some of their beans to take home with me. Definitely a great stop if you’re in the area!

Harless and Hugh is a great place to get coffee and hangout. I’ve been coming here for a while now, the coffee has always been great and the employees are very nice, it definitely feels like it’s run by real people instead of a corporation. I came here with my friends for my birthday and got the cortado and found that I wasn’t a big fan of how strong it was. It was still great coffee. After bringing this up to the barista, she insisted on making me a latte instead with no extra charge, which I very much appreciated. She even put a happy birthday note when she brought it out, which made it feel so much more personal. I definitely recommend this place if you want great coffee and good people.

Randomly stopped here a couple times when I was in Bay City for work, turns out the coffee and service were so good I keep coming back. Some of the best coffee around and the staff knows their stuff. The dark haired barista (Samantha) actually recommended a couple things I wouldn’t have tried on my own, and they were REALLY good. If you want sweets, the baked goods are great, and if you want more of a lunch type vibe the pesto toast is amazing (that was the recommendation.) Nice chill ambiance, if you haven’t checked it out yet you really should!

Really cute coffee shop with amazing details and a perfect aesthetic. Staff could have been a bit friendlier but overall we had a great experience and the coffee was phenomenal. So much room for seating and a great outdoor space are really a highlight.
