Food is always fresh and hot. Workers are friendly and lets me know how long my food will take to get ready. Owner is nice and always greet me when I come to Harolds. One of my favorite places to eat in Carbondale.

LET (clap) ME (clap) SAY (clap) ONE (clap) THING: Harold’s of Carbondale is the business! Y’all…why did this southerner just stumble upon the best chicken wing and catfish spot above the Mason-Dixon Line? I ain’t telling a lie either. On Friday I was on Facebook and happened to come across Harold’s page. I took a look at the menu and decided I might stop by later that evening. I almost went home and ate a half of a cold-cut sandwich from the grocery store I had left in the fridge, but thank goodness my first-mind told me to go by that place Harold’s I saw earlier online.

Paid 6 bucks for 2 tenders bc I just wanted a quick bite. Got the skimpiest 2 tenders i ever seen and some mid bread that was stale. Tried the fries too since my buddy had them and they were mid at best. Won’t return.

I couldn’t even tell you what the food tastes like. We went in to have the chicken for the first time and was never able to get an order. The cook was on the phone with an employee and was too busy chastising him to offer decent service. He said he could take our order but couldn’t guarantee that we would get it on time because it wasn’t his job to do that employee’s job.

Last night, I ordered takeout… told them I wanted my food fried hard. The food was done in less than 15 mins. My meal was not cooked hard and the fish might as well have been undercooked because it was waaaaay too soft. I only ate the fries, which I barely had any and didn’t have bread or cole slaw. Was disappointed because I’m a regular and usually like to eat their food. I think they were rushing because they were trying to close or something because there’s no way I spent almost 20 dollars and the food tasted like that!

I’ve tried chicken from Harold’s twice. It’s strictly carry out or delivery, no seating. The first time I went to the location and ordered a wing dinner. I wasn’t told until after I paid that my order wouldn’t be ready for 30 minutes. The wings were pretty good, the fries were undercooked, not crispy, and they failed to put slaw in the bag. The second time I ordered on line, understanding the order wouldn’t be ready for 30 minutes. The chicken was not as good as the first time, the fries were again undercooked and not crispy, and again they failed to put slaw in the bag. I called about the slaw and was told that even though it’s included with the dinners they don’t give it to you unless you ask for it. I really wanted to like this place but probably won’t be going back.

Okay first off I’m originally from Joliet Illinois so we were in Chicago often visiting family and everything And one of our our highest points was getting chicken from Harold’s Chicken I don’t know what happened or what went wrong but the Harold’s Chicken in Carbondale I don’t know if they just gave us old chicken or they were ready to get out of there I don’t know what it was but the chicken tasted horrible me and my aunt and my son we’re coming back home to Paducah Kentucky and we stopped to get some we got the 25 wings and they tasted horrible there was no seasoning no nothing and I know this is not Harold’s Chicken because like I said I’m from Joliet we were in Chicago all the time getting Harold’s Chicken I’ve never in my life tasted Harold’s Chicken like this I don’t know but something was wrong it wasn’t Harold’s Chicken and it hurts me because I hate to give a bad review on something that I know from the heart as one of the greatest restaurants in the city of Chicago. I hope that it improves along the way and becomes like the Harold’s Chicken in Chicago.

I give this place one stars because I had to wait for my food for over an hour and half. This is unacceptable, when other customers come in they are told, just like I did, that the food will be ready in 20mns. Just to come into the store and find out that your order won’t be done for the next two hours this is false advertisement. This is beyond insane and if you want some food, DO NOT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT unless you’re ready to wait, AT LEAST 2 hours. Makes no type of sense!
