I wanted to try this place because they have so many great reviews. I drove the opposite direction home, 40 minutes out of my way round trip to check it out. It’s a stand alone building, away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown crowds. The restaurant is in good condition and clean, including a spacious clean bathroom. The food was really good. I wanted to try the crab cakes based on the reviews and the minimum you can order is 1 cake for $12. It was really good and fresh, probably the best I’ve had. I also had the fish tacos which were good and that comes with two sides. I got the grilled Caesar salad, server recommended and cup of the spicy crab soup. Both were an up charge which I didnt know until I got the bill but that’s ok. Both were really good as well, making my tacos and sides $19. The food got to me fairly quickly, was hot and overall was very satisfying. However, the service needs improvement. I only saw one person working the entire time I was there and there was only one other table there besides me. The waitress was very engaged in talking with them, ignoring me quite frequently. She didn’t get my menu and order my drink for at least 8 minutes after I sat down, even though I was right next to the table she was chatting with and literally could hear them chit chatting the whole time. After my food arrived, I had to ask for silverware. I also had to ask for my drink to be refilled, all the time she was just talking to her other customers. Not to mention the waitress and I believe the cook or maybe manager inside were screaming and cursing at one another at one point, which everyone outside could hear. I didnt expect the poor quality service from the reviews, but not a total loss because of the delicious food. Worth a visit, hopefully the people that work there clean up their act so they don’t run down a decent restaurant with potential.

Great crab cakes! Grilled romaine was on point. The chowder and Maryland soup was very good as well. Limited seating, limited parking. Worth any wait involved! Will go again when we’re down here again.

Shocked to find this incredible spot empty on a Saturday night. Great service, friendly people and a very cool atmosphere. First time of many and the crab cake appetizer was the very best I’ve ever had and I actually lived in Maryland for 3 years. The pit beef was cooked perfectly and sliced right with sweet onions on top. If you’ve never had pit beef, you should. The salads were crisp and very fresh. I would honestly recommend this restaurant to anyone driving down A1A or if you live within 45 minutes, you won’t be disappointed.

My husband and I stumbled upon this little gem! The crab cakes are incredible and worth every penny! My husband had the Cuban and it was phenomenal! Lots of flavor. I had the ribs and they were great too! The owner is retired and runs the restaurant. He is very nice. Came and talked to us for a while. It’s nice to get to know who’s responsible for a good menu and environment. Will definitely be frequenting this place whenever we are in town!

I went here based on write ups on this site. I was so very pleasantly surprised! The owners are two of the sweetest most wonderful people our group have met while down here. The food was amazing, I had the Cuban sandwich my wife and her friend had the Crabcake, not sure what her husband had but we all enjoyed our food very much. The owner brought us out his home recipe onion rings to sample and they too were awesome. The greatest part is the total experience, we even had the owners do a singing performance of 3 songs at our behest and they were great! Will be back there next year when we return!

Went to Haszard’s last night for a friends birthday. It was amazing. The food was great and reasonably priced. The owner, like my friends were originally from Maryland. Had a great time chatting with the owner about Maryland. Even though he has been down here for 45 years they were both from Bowie and still remembered a lot about where my friends lived.

After a day at the St John’s beach, we found this little taste of Maryland. As a Terp and recent Maryland transplant it was nice to find something familiar. The hush puppies were fantastic. The Maryland crab soup was quite good. The crab cake was pretty good, but I’ve not been away long enough to have forgotten G&M and Gunnings. Sad that I missed the hand cut Thrashers style fries, but some old bay and malt vinegar livened up what they had. The owners are wonderful people. I’m looking forward to coming back to try the Pitt beef. My kids loved the chicken tacos.

We went on 6/25/16 for dinner. We had the crab cakes, hush puppies, coleslaw, sweet tea, tartar sauce, their sauces, and the lemon mascarpone cake. Everything was fresh and delicious (that’s saying a lot because my wife and I are big foodies). There was nice folk-type live music by a band of 5 or so including violin, upright bass, banjo, etc. We spoke briefly with the owner as they asked us if everything was to our satisfaction. Very friendly people willing to exchange stories, etc.

We were in the area and looking for something local to eat. Landed ourselves here after a great day at the beach with the kids. Friendly people own this establishment and I have yet to find a grilled romaine that could top the one I had here. The fish tacos were great, kids loved the food too! When in the area, we’ll definitely make this a priority stop!
