We were searching for a place to eat after taking a river cruise and we were happy to find this place open before 4:00, as many local restaurants are not. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the amazing aroma. We ordered at the counter from the giant chalkboard menu on the wall. We split the elote fries and the sliders from the appetizer menu and enjoyed the self-serve fresh lemon water. There was a lot of loud banging noise happening during our visit (were they smashing the burgers??). The food was beyond delicious and we couldn’t stop saying so. My only complaint is that we live 2 long hours away from this place!

If you haven’t given Heirloom Seasonal Bistro in Winona a try, let this be your sign. My partner and I tried the Smash Sliders which had a *heavenly* bacon jam with a garlic aioli topping that left us wanting more, along with the new menu item – the homemade basil pesto bucatini pasta with fried eggplant, and all that I can say is yum.

We attended a funeral in St. Charles and decided to stop for lunch in Winona on the way home. We chose Heirloom Seasonal Bistro as it got good reviews and seemed like something unique… right up our alley! It was such a cute place inside and I loved that there was ample space to stand and look at the menu board. All of the choices seemed yummy, but I settled on the Greek salmon burger with elote fries and my husband chose the shrimp tacos with elote fries. I thought the little table numbers in the fake plants were just adorable. All of the food left our tastebuds doing a dance. The texture of the fries were like nothing I’ve ever had before. And you can’t go wrong with elote toppings. I enjoyed my salmon burger but it played tricks on me because I kept waiting for the zing of tartar sauce but instead I got the coolness of tzatziki. Don’t get me wrong, it was tasty, but my brain couldn’t wrap my head around what I was eating. My husband enjoyed the char on the shrimp in his tacos but the chili oil left his hands quite messy! Overall, this was a fun find. The pasta on the menu caught my eye, as well, and I would definitely try it the next time we are in town.

Such good food. Shared a delicious burger with sweet pickles and a plate of kimchi fries with my husband. Every we ate was so good. Two days later and I’m still dreaming about it.

Heirloom Bistro is a lovely little Cafe in downtown Winona that specializes in locally sourced higher end Cafe fare. Items such as salmon burgers, artisan sliders, elote fries, and international inspired soups are common on the menu. We had the elote fries which were possibly double fried making them too crunchy and soaked in oil, but well flavored. The lemon chicken soup was super flavorful and the garlic toast was perfectly crusty. They have delicious lattes and friendly staff. The food does take quite a while to come out when they are busy on Saturday lunch hour. There are about 5 tables so taking the food to go is more convenient.

Enjoyed my experience. The beet salad was good. GF, dairy free & soy free are tough to accommodate. The staff were very friendly. Liked the lighting, seating, and vibe.

This little spot deserves all the attention Winona can give it! Gavin and Kristie source everything locally, even making their own pasta. It’s incredible! A thoughtful menu allows anyone to find their favorite dish…. including gluten free and vegan options…. and meat lovers, too! We loved every bite and can’t wait to go back.
