My husband and I ordered two MILD (wasn’t spicy at all which is what we wanted) sandwich meals which each came with fries and a drink. I also got an order of fried pickles (I wish they came with ranch but they were very fresh and good). And last we ordered the Mac and cheese with the chicken on top and it’s a good lighter Mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious and everything had really good flavors. The slaw and pickles were perfect on the sandwich. The meal also comes with a tangy sauce that we used to dip our fries into. My husband literally said it’s one of the best chicken sandwiches he’s ever had. We will definitely be back.

Killer sliders and tenders and Hot wasn’t an understatement, those tenders had some bite and the fries had an awesome season too. Service was quick and super friendly, happy to chat about the new space. If we lived in town we’d be back on a regular basis. The fried Oreos were an amazing dessert.

Stopped in for lunch during a long drive, location was great since it’s close to 101. Chicken sando was delicious, fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Skip the chain restaurants and eat here instead. I got medium heat and it wasn’t hot, so don’t be afraid to step up a level. Service was top notch as well, very personable and friendly.

HH Invitational is super fire. By that I mean super spicy. I have tried many different chicken places that have popped up over the years. This is by far the hottest. But there’s a catch. The chicken tasted so good and was seasoned with wonderful taste.

The chicken’s aight, good balance of spice and flavor even at the higher spice levels. Chicken is juicy and tender. But it’s the mac and cheese that really makes this place stand out. Instead of elbow macaroni, this mac has rotini noodles so the noodles are firm and not soggy!

After trying the 3 main hot chicken places in SLO (Jaybirds, Hella Hot, and Dave’s), Hella Hot is the winner for me. After being a bit disappointed with Dave’s when it launched, I was still craving a good hot chicken place. I saw the Instagram ads and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed and actually happy that I found a solid hot chicken place! The sauce is very tasty, the seasoning is more complex than others, and the spice level is on point (I believe I just got the standard hot). Although not as conveniently located for parking, Hella Hot is definitely my go-to.
