First time. Came after reading other reviews. The place is clean and the people are nice but otherwise disappointed. We waited a full half hour for our food to be ready. The Philly cheese steak tasted like frozen steakums on a plain hard roll. Corn bread and coleslaw taste prepackaged. The ribs were gristle-y. The fried chicken was fine but no better than KFC. French fries also tasted like from a frozen package. For a place that boasts “only 5-star bbq in CT” I expected more hand crafted items. Bear’s bbq is leaps and bounds better than this place.

Not sure if the people of CT actually know 5 star BBQ, but this place is not it. Buffalo chicken sandwich is okay, but I have had better. Wings are small and same with the “dipping sauce” side of ranch only good enough to dip 1 fry. Staff are friendly.

I tried the ribs and the fried chicken thinking it was as good as years ago… I was wrong. The ribs and chicken were dry. The ribs had hardly any barbecue sauce and tasted like they had been reheated. Too bad … I was looking forward to a great meal.

We found this place by accident when on vacation. So glad we did. The crab cakes were so delicious and full of lump crab. Crab bisque was awesome. We went back 2 days later for the tray of crabs. Yum. Great spot.

Went there this evening for the first time. I ordered the Rib dinner and a chicken sandwich. Chicken sandwich was pretty good. Unfortunately, the ribs were not. Some of the meat was tough and chewy. Either they reheated the ribs in the deep fryer or microwave and/or the meat seemed old. The rack was not trimmed correctly. Rib tips still attached to the rack is a no no for quality ribs. The bbq sauce definitely lacked flavor and I think that translates into mediocre bbq ribs. French fries were overcooked as well. I’m not sure I will be going back. Things would have to change significantly in order for me to give them another chance. Bbq ribs are a staple of any bbq establishment and should be done right.

Horrible chicken. We order a baked chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy also chicken gizzards. The baked chicken was dry we couldn’t eat it. The chicken gizzards over fry hard as a rock. In the past we had tried the fried chicken and weren’t impressed. I will never order from here again. Very disappointed.

If I happen to be in Southington at luch at time I try to stop at the Hen House BBQ for a chicken sandwich. They are always good. The restaurant was sold three years ago and I detect not change in the food. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. I’ll be back.
