Stopped here around 7pm on a whim driving through an interstate trip. They were closed but the owner walked out and apologized. Said he’d sold out and didn’t even have bread. That’s when you KNOW a place is good. He then proceeded to bring out drinks and a sampler of what he had left. It was the best damn BBQ sauce I’ve ever had. The kindess and generosity of the owner radiated with that true southern hospitality and warmth. I cannot recommend this place enough. I’ve saved it so that I can return the next time and I’ll be sure to come early.

Cool little weird side of the road barbecue place. I’m used to Frito pies with a few different ingredients but it was awesome! Pulled pork sandwich was also very good and even though it was their style of barbecue sauce I thought it was Top Notch.

Never have I had a worse meal at Henks. They could have given us a jar of Mayo for coleslaw and that would have been better. The whole meal was awful. Very disappointed!!!

Love the building and location. Grew up in that area and its great to go back once in a while. The beans are perfect! And i always get the family meal same as my parents and grandparents. Don’t forget the free peppers and pickles . 10 stars from me.

Great BBQ. Easy to find off of freeway. Staff is very very friendly and helpful. Restaurant is very clean and decorated well. Bathroom is clean. Drive through is convenient. military discount available. Ordered lunch combo pulled porm sandwhich, which was ok meat was pretty good but beware that sandwhich is slippery *not advised for driving and eating*. Was recommended the frito pie as the number one item on the menu…it was delicious, yet again dont eat while driving, but it has fritos, beans, meat, 2 types of cheese at least. will stop by again.

Great service, great potato salad, & sandwiches! Can’t wait to try the ribs! Very reasonably priced! Went back for dinner with my bo! Ribs were so good, had a very delicious rub, forgot to ask for extra of their delicious sauce! Coleslaw, and free peach cobbler for the wait, are very delicious! Great barbecue, better than any back home I’ve had in the past! Mangia, Enjoy !

This place use to be good, but last night proved to be a total failure.. we ordered two meals, side orders on both were both wrong, my meal which was supposed to be sausage, and hot link meal. My meat portion of the meal looked as it it was a kiddy meal. The meat portion, would not even cover the large part of the Styrofoam to got box. Only covered about 2/3 of that part of the to go box. We called and spoke to the night manager who argued with us over the sides and the amount and type of meat on my plate, saying she personally prepared our plates. I cook regularly on my grill and in my smoker, I know meats, and there was no hot links on my plate . The night manager did nothing, but say she was right and we were totally wrong. My spouse’s drink was a soft drink, it was totally flat (no carbonation in it at all.) Like as if it was poured from an already opened container, the ribs in her plate were over salted, and the cobbler we got with the meal was similar to chewing on a sponge. We did eat the meal, but it was horrible, along with the oh well type response from the night manager. I wish I would have taken photos of these meals, to show you what we were sold. Our ticket total was aprox $37.00… I want the real owner/manager to respond to this review. I want to know what he would do if he was served this type of meal, and his comment as to the service we received if he was the customer.

Henk’s is ok BBQ, it’s pretty basic. If you need a quick bite to eat and don’t want fast food, it’s a good alternative. If you want great BBQ, look elsewhere. We tried the brisket and the sausages, with bean. The brisket was tender, though lacked bark and flavor. The beans tasted canned and had absolutely not flavor…definitely no seasoning.

I live in Odessa but used to live in Amarillo and this place was my favorite. Not no more! Doesn’t taste the same as before( couple years ago). Guess I’ll try crazy Larry’s and see if there food is still the same.

The food was not like it used to be. I’m not sure if the owners changed, but it was not good & left a nasty after taste. I was very disappointed for such an expensive meal we didn’t even eat.
