Founded in 1954, there was a Henry’s in Detroit on Greenfield by Plymouth. It was my first regular drive in burger joint experience that I fondly remember growing up as a child in the fifties. Sadly, there is only one left in the country but fortunately it’s on my way home from Chicago. With cherished memories as my guide, I stopped there to rekindle the days of my youth as a smiling hamburger on the signage welcomed me back. The emotional rollercoaster of reliving my past derailed when I ordered a double Henry burger that reminded me of the political hamburger wars of “where’s the beef,? ” The beef patties were less than 3 inches in width and about an 1/8 inch thick each. The cost was about 4.24. It tasted good with pickles, onion , ketchup and mustard but wasn’t satisfying. At least I checked it off my bucket list.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Stopped at 1640(440PM) with my family to dine in, completely empty lot. Went inside and waited at the front counter for 3 minutes before announcing our presence for service as no one came up front, a cook in the back locked eyes then rolled them and proceeded to select a new song from his phone to play over the speakers. Absolute trash service, and whoever was on shift that evening, absent a manager, that cook should be dismissed. There is 0 reason for a shift to have no manager and this establishment would do well to heed that when the current staff exudes this abhorrent behavior when management is lacking. Do better

Good food, hot fries. A nice change from the more popular chains. Still deep frying turnovers, much better than the cheap cardboard tasting ones from McDs or BK.

Every time I’m home visiting I make it a point to stop in. A childhood favorite growing up and even now, never disappoints.

When I arrived I stood at the counter yelling hello for a couple minutes, finally a woman who clearly looked like she doesn’t like her job came and took my order.

The toasted bun was the best part of the overpriced and undersized burger. Fryers were too hot so all fried sides were overcooked. Middle of the burger was lukewarm (but cooked through). Staff is unhelpful and the store looks abandoned save for the neon sign. If they forget an item on your order they will not correct it even when you offe to pay. (No you cannot add bacon to your burger/sandwich even though they serve bacon at breakfast :/)

The food is great but the service was not. The girl working there was very rude and took a long time and getting our order… The food is good it’s hot and it’s cheap if you’re just looking for something quick and don’t want to eat Burger King or McDonald’s I recommend Henry’s hamburger

I really feel like I was cheated out of my money with buying the breakfast sandwiches. It was so skimpy. It was a small sausage patty, half of one egg, half slice of cheese on two slices of dry toast! I didn’t receive any butter nor jelly. And $1.89 plus taxes for a single hash brown is ridiculous! I wouldn’t suggest anyone to go there!
