Who is Herbie?!
No one really knows. There are a lot of rumors, but one thing we do know is that Herbie is a burger nerd who emerged from the 80’s New Wave scene to tirelessly work on creating the perfect burger, fries, and shakes.
What we’re left with are his findings:
1.) Use quality local ingredients. Organic when possible.
2.) Make as much from scratch as possible. For example, all of our sauces and shake syrups are made from scratch. Our fries are hand-cut from Idaho potatoes every single day.
3.) Smash a burger on a hot griddle thin so that it creates a perfect sear, this is called The Maillard reaction. A chemical reaction between amino acids and sugars that makes seared food taste so so good.

I love the retro feel and the politically correct menu of traditional burger fries fare with vegetarian options that is all made in house. It’s herbies coz the vege burger is herbie:) The fresh cut fries and the vege burgers are very delicious and enough reason to keep coming back for more!!

Burgers are fresh and delicious. Fries are thin, salty, and very good as well. We liked how the menu was super simple and straightforward. Easy ordering, quick service and delicious food. Meat and vegan friendly options. Will definitely be back.

When I want a classic cheeseburger, all beef and no bull, I come here to Herbie’s. The vegan option is top shelf as well, and I’m so glad they’ve opened this location close to home in Troy. Great taste, quick service, made with care and a fun environment. I couldn’t ask for more!!

Grass fed burgers and delicious shoestring fries The woman taking our order was friendly and just solidified why you should visit this location. Great place to get food late night as they are open until 2 am. Loving having this as an option in Troy. I would suggest getting a bug zapper for the counter on the front window as I can see it being a problem while eating your food as the bright lights in front of the building attracts bugs.

Herbie’s is a wonderful addition to the troy food scene. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity you get (and you get a near five guys amount of fries per order). Unlike another reviewer who doesn’t seem to realize that grand openings of restaurants often have unpredictable and outsized demand, I’ve had no trouble with getting food late into the night. The atmosphere is also fantastic, like stepping into a time machine to a sleek 1960s burger joint.

Ordered takeout, food was ready at the time the restaurant gave me but the milkshake wasn’t ready yet. I waited in the restaurant for 15 minutes while two customers who came in after me and ordered at the counter had their milkshakes made before mine was. The woman making the milkshakes was clearly more interested in socializing with her coworkers than working and couldn’t even bother to fill orders in the order they were placed. Milkshake was good, burger was average, fries were oversalted. I won’t go back.

Vibe was EXCELLENT, such a cool spot! Service for 2 single patty burgers and fries was over 20 minutes, didn’t quite get why that happened but we were cool. Food was okay. Fries were great. Burgers were dry and fine but not particularly special.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Herbie’s Burger, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. However, what truly made this visit memorable was the outstanding customer service provided by Saaed. His dedication and attentiveness went above and beyond, and I feel compelled to share my appreciation, seeing that he would take the extra tip i offer him and instead put it in the tip jar especially after a nagged him to keep it to himself.
