This wasn’t quite what I was expecting upon arrival honestly. The building is quite worn along with the outside seating. They offered a very limited menu that day. I was surprised they didn’t offer a few beers on tap, but they offered a large variety of cans/bottles of beers. I went with the cheeseburger and tots, and my son went with the chicken tender basket with tots. My burger consisted of a large patty and decent amount of toppings. Everything tasted great and arrived fairly quickly. Our server was nice but kind of sporadic on checking on us. My husband ended up going inside to order another beer for example.

Established in 2002, this hideaway is hidden a few miles south of Springfield and about a mile north of Louisville along Highway 50. While many bars pride themselves on their vast entertainment options of TVs, pool tables, and other bar games, Heron Bay is different in that it encourages its customers to relax and take in the scenery. As one dines outside, soft country music plays over the speakers (or a band entertains on stage), and they can enjoy the sunshine, a cold brew, and be captivated by the activity of the river.

Good food with a fairly creative menu – especially on weekends. By the way, the menu is on an A-frame board just outside the door. Excellent, attentive, and friendly service. Fun to watch the airboats go by. A slight smell of fish if you sit closer to the river. Arrive early if you want a shady spot.

I stopped on a Sunday. Google maps says that they open at 11, and they do. However, the kitchen doesn’t open until noon, so be aware.

I feel bad leaving this review because I really wanted to like this place because of the emotional attachment by locals.

It’s my 1st time there on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a very laid-back environment on the Platte River. They had a 2-person band singing oldies. The service was excellent, and the drinks were very reasonable.

Not exactly a great experience. Service wasn’t great. They stopped serving food at 8 which is the main driving of this review. Has a rundown dive bar feel if that’s what you’re looking for.

It’s always a good place to go chill. Never had a bad experience out there. Sometimes it’s busy and sometimes it’s not. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Grab a few beers and smoke a few cigars.

If you’re looking for something fancy, this isn’t it….but if you’re looking for a casual, relaxing place to get a good burger with a great view of the Platte River from any seat in the place, then you’ll love it! Not much parking if you’re coming in by car, but pretty easy to find a spot with a motorcycle or bicycle.

I received my bill and my meal was $6 more expensive than it said on the menu at the front, their reasoning?
