Awesome as usual! Good pulled pork, and chicken too. Check out this half eaten HUGE platter of onion rings. Couldn’t eat anymore. So hard to waste them but so stuffed!! Thanks HP for awesome kindness and excellent iced tea!

My husband and I were headed into Bruton Branch Campground and decided to grab a late lunch. We rode through Savannah and made a quick U-turn to pull into this amazing place. We have eaten bbq across the south and were excited to try it. I was so impressed by the service, the food and the portions! I opted for the Piggy Fries and they were AMAZING (and enough for 2 meals). My husband had the mini pulled pork sandwich and an order of onion rings (again, enough for 2 meals). If we ever find ourselves I Savannah again, there wil

Not bad BBQ. Not the best I’ve ever had but I don’t regret eating there. Had the pulled pork plate, came with more food than I could eat. Pork was good and they had two choices of sauce; a hot and a mild. Both had good flavor but hot wasn’t really all that hot. Came with crinkle cut fries – average, coleslaw – good but a little dry, beans – good, and a really good dinner roll. Also had the onion rings as an appetizer – excellent! I’d probably go back just for those. Overall I was pleased with my decision to visit the Hickory Pit

Got the sample platter and had enough for two people for two meals. Loved everything!

I have visited Hickory Pit numerous times in the last few years. Consistency is the word that comes to mind. The staff is consistently friendly and will go out of their way for you. The food is consistently fantastic. I’d rate them 10 stars if I could! Keep up the great work!!!!

I was just in Savannah for one night and found the Hickory Pit. The service was outstanding, and the food was great! I could use a bit more smoky flavor in the meat, but it was tender and moist. I love onion rings, and when I’m told they are hand cut and battered in the store, I always get them. They couldn’t substitute them for the fries, and I thought we’d worked out a deal, so I ordered them. They were absolutely the best onion rings I have ever had. When the bill came though, I was charged for a full appetizer price. But the great staff worked it out to charge me half price. I couldn’t finish the plate and wishwas i could have sent half of them to another table gratis. I didn’t think of it in time! Then others could have enjoyed these excellent onion rings! Honestly, if I was in the area, I would go a bit out of my way to have these again.

Excellent barbecue. Had chicken this visit. Cooked perfect with great flavor. Not overcooked like many places. Potato salad had personality as did their baked beans. So much better than most barbecue joints. Need I mention the Key Lime pie? Yes I do!

We went in 20 minutes before they closed. Our waitress couldn’t have been any friendlier. She hustled cleaning and waiting tables. I had the baked chicken and it was awesome. It fell off the bone. We were shown real southern hospitality. We will definitely go back when we are in town again.

Really Good Food and Unbelievably Fast. Great Service!! Nice little place to have lunch and more than reasonable. I think everyone that passes thru or lives there should frequent this place.

Food is ok. Barbecue used to taste smokier. Also, I liked the old style of coleslaw better, it was chopped up finer and it was sweeter. The serving size is generous. My complaint is the prices. It’s gotten very expensive in the last few years, but there are still no noticeable updatesrenovations. Food used to be better, building is more rundown, women’s bathroom needs serious remodel.
