I would usually rate the Hickory Pit a 4.5 however the last couple of times I’ve bought the Loaded Baked Potatoes instead of Brisket on top I’ve gotten fat & gristle. Every time we go, its $31… So its not like a cheap lil plate. Over half of my “meat” topping was fat and unedible, it was the same with my husbands but he just threw his out. I hope they will take this and stop doing because I really do love this place.

This place is somehow 4.8 stars with amazing ribs???? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I do not usually write reviews, but this one has got to get knocked down. So bad they should have paid me to eat it. It truly deserves zero stars. Ribs and sliced beef were warmed up in a microwave. Dry, disgusting, grey in color, with a flavor like it had been stored with coals in their fridge had to be thrown out. Wasted my money stopping here, hope you do not do the same.

I stopped and ate on a Fri afternoon at 5.45. I ate the sliced beef plate with beans and potato salad, 2 slices of bread and pickles and onions. The potato salad was good – a mix of classic mustard and mayo – the beans i did not care for – however the sliced beef was excellent – well smoked and very tender. The bbq sauce was sweet and good. My date wanted the ribs. We were going to order the pound of ribs (13.95) but our cashier KK recommended that we get the rib sandwich with no bread. ($7). When it came out, it was 4 ribs and pickles and onions and bbq sauce. The ribs were well smoked – when she grabbed the rib bones, they came out of the meat immediately, clean. Very tender and tasty!

Great Pulled Pork. The pork was not to grease and BBQ was not overly sweet. Place was empty at 2 PM in afternoon. Looked a little rough on outside. However, great folks and delicious BBQ inside. The Cole slaw was just want we love. Finely diced with nice vinegar taste. We will definitely be back.

When I say this is the second best barbecue place in Houston I’ve been to, I don’t mean it lightly. Hickory Pit is out of the way, and I only met it after I built a fence for one of the locals. The brisket is delicious, the sausage is phenomenal, and the ribs literally fall apart in your mouth. I have been back here with my family, and I wholly trust this place for an amazing lunch!

We was a bit cold when we sat down. But soon we forgot the cold due to the world’s best BBQ. I personally never finish my plate but I did this time. Very good place to eat. Thank You lady’s for the good food.
