Small Town Girl
Hickory Street Cafe had a home feel to it where servers were very friendly and everybody knows everyone. It had a small town vibe to it, yet cozy. The inside was very cute and I enjoyed my time spent there. I can definitely see why parking filled up quickly. 10 out of 10, this place deserves it. I left feeling full, happy, and healthy! Can’t wait to visit again.

This is such a great lunch spot! Went with a friend, and we both ordered the same thing. The Salad Sampler with Maple Vinaigrette. It came with their very popular chicken salad, a pasta salad with chicken, and a garden salad. It also came with 2 pieces of zucchini bread. I liked the pasta salad with chicken. It was tangy, and the chicken had good texture but not really any flavor.

My husband went to get some lunch from Hickory Street. He got me a serving of chicken salad with 2 slices of zucchini bread. Both were wonderful! The zucchini bread 2large tall pieces. Also got a loaf of the bread. The loaf we got was only about 2 inches tall. Not as flavorful as the ones with the meal. Hope this is not the new norm!

Ate here passing through town. Food was delicious and lots of healthy options. We are hard to please and we found items we loved. The waitress gave us some zucchini bread to try even though we didn’t order it and it was delicious! Also I left my purse at the restaurant and the manager mailed it to me! Awesome place

I met the ladies behind Hickory Street Cafe last week while they were out to dinner. Somehow we started chatting and they told me about their little cafe. I had no clue it was going to be the quaint little gem that it was. I picked up a Zucchini Bread to go to share with friends. The bread was never shared as I have eaten a piece (or two) with every meal in the last three days. I can’t wait to go back in and dine on delicious bites in a darling atmosphere.

I have eaten at Hickory Street for almost 20 years. Each time I go or take friends with me I love the food…but something has changed in the last many months. The chicken salad does not taste as good and something is missing from it. They are understaffed and the last time I went it took the waiter 15 minutes to make it to our table for the drink order. I want this place to do well but they need to bring back the original chicken salad!

This place has gone downhill in the last few months. The chicken salad tastes old and gamey. I recommend people to steer clear of it.

Great place for a wonderful lunch. We each had a different sandwich & ended with the peanut butter pie. We all loved what we ordered. The staff are very friendly & knowledgeable. Will have tonplan a stop here next time we pass thru during the week. Beautiful old home, makes you feel like you walked back into grandma’s house.

A little disappointed. Have always loved the chicken salad. They have changed it a little and while it’s still good it isn’t a good. Also missed the lettuce leaf, orange and cucumber twist and the cashews. Zucchini bread was excellent as always and the staff friendly like usual.

This place isn’t worth it: one, they are out of everything. Tried the BLT, no bacon, Tried the taco salad, they don’t make that anymore. I ordered from the takeout window, the wait was a good 30 mins with no food. I requested to wait inside and maybe eat inside. They declined. They said if you paid outside, you cannot eat inside their establishment. Made me wonder if prices are cheaper at the window. But they are not. They are very disorganised, you have to pull someone and ask for directions. If this is what Abilene considers top of the line, they can keep it. My rating is purely on Service. Then the sandwich came after 45 minutes. Total waste of my time. The only thing that can make sense of this bad service is if the business is under new ownership.
