This is a true family restaurant and every sense of the word. The hospitality from the servers is excellent, it’s not fancy it makes you feel like you’re at home. Everything I have eaten has been excellent. The catfish is so fresh it literally melts in your mouth. The shrimp are hand breaded. I’ve also had the beef tips and they are excellent. Their best side order that I like is the fried corn nuggets they are so good.

I went there for there for the first time and was impressed! I’m from out of town, but would possibly go back. I liked their menu. It was simple yet had a good variety of options. We had good service and it didn’t take long for us to get our food. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was good! It was a good size but still wasn’t quite filling for dinner. The pricing was very reasonable. It’s an older building and it didn’t really have any charm, but it was still a cozy environment to dine in!

Husband and I tried this for the first time tonight. Customer service was excellent. We had fried chicken. The taste was good but was slightly overcooked. Macaroni and cheese tasted like stoffers which is good but would have been nice to have homemade. Green beans tasted like they where straight out of the can. Wish they had more flavor. Overall we were satisfied and liked it enough to go again and try more. The menu had plenty to choose from.

You never know when they will be open. When they are open, they’re out of the favorites. Consistency in hours needs to happen. Update the FB page as well as the web page to reflect this please. I love your food but haven’t been able to enjoy it in months now.

From Ohio, staying in Pembroke. Loved the small town feel, friendly staff, simple paper menus and surroundings. Quick service and tasty food. I had the chicken Philly, minus the bun, green beans, and a water. My husband had catfish fillet, mashed potatoes, and a pop. Bill was about $25, which seemed slightly overpriced, but I thought the food was worth it. If we’re ever in town again, we’d definitely go back to Higgins.

Omg I ordered the beef tips, baked potato and corn nuggets today. That was the best meal I’ve had in a while. The beef tips were cooked perfectly to order (med well) and we’re so tender. The flavor was awesome! Baked potato was perfect. I have no complaints. Thank you.

On a 3-day motorcycle trip from Waxhaw thru Savannah to Strom Thurmond lake outside of Augusta, Higgins was our planned brunch stop on day 2. We get there at 10:55 only to read a sign on the door that said “closing today at 10:45 – sorry for the inconvenience”. We were starving and disappointed, but we asked a fella cooking on a large grill outside what was up – ” we closed today to do a fundraiser for the Statesboro Upward Basketball team, State Champs, to go to Va Beach for Nationals!” Beside him were at least a dozen young men and other volunteers who washed cars and served food for donations. It was hot and they worked really hard, with smiles on their faces. We both bought the BBQ quarter chicken which was excellent, and came with sumptuous limas, mac n cheese and a roll. Then, to top it all off, we got a piece of Chewey Cake – a butter, brown sugar and molasses tasting “slice of heaven”. Fantastic outcome to what looked like a bust for us. Next time in town, is love to try some of the rest of their menu. Wonderful food and sweet, friendly folks!

I’ve only been here once. The place is kinda run down. They specialize in sandwiches, but since I’m on keto, I ordered a grilled chicken salad. I was not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of chopped well-seasoned grilled white meat chicken, and a good balance of cucumber, tomato, and shredded cheddar with the lettuce. It was a whole meal unto itself, which is another thing I worry about when ordering salads at unfamiliar restaurants. I often leave still hungry because the salads are too small. Not the case here. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was light. I’ll likely be back.
