There’s a lot of potential here, but quality control is the hold back. We dined here today for the first time. Although service was great, the hash browns had to be remade because they were old. Also, I ordered a slice of peanut butter pie to take home. When I took a bite, the whipped cream was spoiled and had mold in it. Clearly a very old pie not replaced.

This is a 3.5 star place. Ok first off service here was a 4/4. Our server was great and attentive. The food all need another 3-5 minutes. It was prompt and servings were large but everything really needed more cook time. The server gave us 10 %off because the sausage wasn’t to our likely and she tried to make us happy. However it all came down to everything being under cooked.

I didn’t care for the sadwich, The Gobbler, It was dry and the bread wasn’t fresh. They did change out the bread for me. My husband had an unremarkable club sandwich. I thought it a little too expensive for what we got.

This is a hidden gem in the Lakeland area. The food is fresh and homemade. When I say homemade, even their fries are hand cut. They put west coast in-and-out burger’s fries to shame. The chefs are culinary trained and apparently get creative on weekends and some specials. They have your run-of-the-mill foods that are delicious, then the chef’s creations featured as specials. I know the diner had some bad reviews in the past, but these are new owners and staff. The service was excellent too from the wait staff. They serve breakfast until 2:30 PM, great brunch spot. At 11PM the lunch food is available. Because everything is made fresh to order, they will take requests(Of course within reason). Friday night fish fries and they also have beer and wine. 100% worth the drive to Highland City if you crave something fresh and tasty. The inside isn’t fancy, but let’s be honest, neither is Polk County. It’s just the right amount of casual.

Good food, mediocre waitstaff. The cooks (especially the head chef, who is super nice) have wonderful creative vision and have almost perfectly set up a modern atmosphere that still feels like a hometown diner. The food tastes good, and if it doesn’t, he’s happy to help. He’s visited our table every visit! Come to this diner for him.

Food was excellent. One of the best cuban sandwiches have ever had. Philly cheese steak was very good also. The strawberry cake was amazing as well as their coconut cream pie & butter pecan pie. The desserts are all made in house. Service is excellent & friendly.

Absolutely excellent. I have literally visited the place three times in a week because I love breakfast food with great service. I don’t know why those Debbie downers are trying to say that the eggs are greasy, because my eggs were cooked to perfection! And the pancakes were delicious. I had nothing to complain about when I left except a too-full belly since I didn’t stop eating. Always looking forward to my next visit!

Highland City Diner was a great local place that did not disappoint the decor was typical of a cute Diner atmosphere when we went we went early and there were many locals and many seniors who went on a Monday morning and it was great that the community was gathering their the servers were very pleasant and the food did not disappoint I had the chicken fried steak with cheese grits and the Grits were seasoned perfectly with extra butter has was a chicken fried steak the sweet tea was typical Southern but not overly sweet my only regret was that I had left half of my food and my to-go box and left it at the restaurant

Best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had (called the hangover) and was served with homemade gravy! I sat for hours enjoying their coffee & worked on my wedding photography edits. The waitresses were so friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back to this delicious diner!!!!
