Very fun place with extraordinary food. So glad that I made this stop. My waitress Rachel is very pregnant and super good. She made wonderful suggestions and was just a very positive happy soul. But the food! I had a vegetarian omelet, I am not a vegetarian but a lady sitting across from me had it , and it looked good so I tried it. It did not disappoint! The hashbrowns were crispy on the out side and I ordered a half order of the heavenly French Toast. The French Toast was the best French Toast that I have ever had! Highly recommend!

We’ve lived in town for 6ish months and finally decided to try the Cafe. I’m so mad we waited so long! The food was so delicious!! Had the cowboy burger (which was huge!) Husband had the chicken strips. The strips were much bigger than expected. The sever Teresa was so sweet and attentive and helped suggest some meal ideas. Even though we came in STARVING we couldn’t even finish what we had ordered, the portions were so large. Great value! And they have a case full of pies and cakes for dessert. We had to take a slice home. Can’t wait to enjoy that later too. If you want good food, good value and good atmosphere pull over quick! You won’t regret it!

Got the rainbow trout, salmon, and chocolate eruption. Trout was very flavorful. Salmon was also pretty good, sweet potato fries okay but soggy, and the veggies were tasteless and soggy.

Well, we decided to branch out from our normal breakfast joint (Monument Cafe in Georgetown), and were disappointed by Hippo Cafe. Service/atmosphere is fine but the food was pretty gross.

I started going to the Hippo Cafe when I moved to Hutto almost two years ago. I used to go every weekend for breakfast. Over time I noticed the quality was slowly going down, and eventually, I stopped going. Today I went to see if things had improved since it is convenient since it’s the only sit-down breakfast nearby.

The burgers they make there were some of the best I’ve had in a while. Onion Rings were tasty too as well as the fries. You can’t go wrong with any of their desserts. My friends had other items which were also REALLY good. I think that’s the coolest thing about the place besides the decor is that there’s a wide variety of items to suit pretty much anyone. Definitely worth a stop.

The loaded fries were awesome! I was less pleased with their chicken fried steak. It seemed a little burnt, and the meat was on the tough and chewy side. And I was a little gravy envious when my brothers steak had gravy all over it, and mine was just dropped over the middle. But they had other things on the menu that looked good, so I’ll just have something else next time.
