The old Chiam in Cedar Mill is now Hometown Taste. New chef, New menus, but after our first dinner under the new ownership, it will he our last. Our family has eaten at Chiam for over 25 years, but we won’t be back again!

Advertising “new chef” and “new menu” our old Cantonese favorite CHIAM is no longer !! The wonderful modestly priced and very flavorful Cantonese combinations including chow mein have been replaced by high priced a la carte items that do not even include as much as a scoop of steamed white rice ($3) or a cup of hot tea ($2). General Tso Chicken was tasty and Green Beans in Green Bean Chicken were quite flavorful paired with bland boiled/poached/unseasoned , but the same old irritating host remains (the bilingual one who yells at the kitchen crew and closes whenever he chooses regardless of posted hours). The new flooring is attractive now, but will likely age quickly. Gone are the booths and family tables, replaced with open tables and upright straight chairs without privacy. New soup that includes snow pea LEAF rather than any actual snow peas. All in all, it was an expensive major disappointment. We will have to return to Wan-Q for Cantonese although they close far too early.
