Hometown Kitchen begin its journey on 11/16/21 on faith and prayers. Our dream is to serve the people of our community and bless others by empowering them with a job and a beautiful place to call family.

This is the best food I’ve had in a long time! I first tasted the food from Hometown Kitchen, at The Taste of Elmore County fundraiser event. I ordered the Tuesday special of meat and three. I had the best fried chicken, rice and gravy, baked Mac n’ cheese, Lima beans, and cornbread, along with sweet tea. The food was perfectly seasoned and packed full of flavor! I didn’t have to add anything, not even salt. It is family owned and run beautifully. I talked with two of the owners-mother and daughter, Felicia and Jalisa. I enjoyed spending time with them and hearing their story, and visions for their future. Everyone was friendly, polite, and I felt like I was even part of their wonderful family! If you’re searching for soul food, truly made with love and the freshest ingredients (nothing canned here), then look no further. This is the BEST!

The food here is Great and the service is with a smile. We first tasted Hometown at Taste of Elmore and the food was calling us to visit the establishment. We were not disappointed as the catfish was fantastic along with the sides. The Mac n Cheese is exceptional. We brought back friends and had their Friday Meatloaf Special . Yummy. My mom asked if they could make an item not fried and how wonderful they were to do that for her. Everything is well seasoned and just very tasty. We will be back.

Had lunch here yesterday and the food and service were excellent! We were welcomed warmly when we came in and checked on several times during our meal. Loved the fried chicken and green tomatoes. Definitely recommend and will be back soon!

The BEST soul food I’ve had since I was a child sitting at granny’s table! The fried chicken was INCREDIBLE! Lemme tell ya about the cabbage: SAUSAGE in the cabbage and it was straight fire! Fried okra was smackin and crispy and the fried green tomatoes were thin, crispy and had an amazing twang to them. Rice and gravy…gravy was smooth and rich. It was over all one of the best tasting experiences I’ve had. The people were so friendly and so nice to me and my family. I can’t say enough good things about my experience at the hometown kitchen! I will be back…probably in a few days!

We had a birthday in our group, and they let me in early to put balloons on the table. Super nice and professional staff, and delicious food. Fried chicken, collard greens, black-eyed peas and corn bread muffin were delicious. Candied yams were good, too, just sweeter than I’m accustomed to.

I understand food is high. The fried chicken pieces were very small. The thigh was smaller than my hand but almost 4$ for an extra piece. If you are going to serve chicken that small, you can’t fry it to death. It’s already dead. Very very dry. Especially the breast. Squash casserole needed a tad more seasoning. I will continue to be a repeat customer. Mac and cheese needs to be a tad more moist. But I will be back. The service and staff are wonderful people

Someone recommended this restaurant to me, as I frequently patronize black owned businesses, as a business owner myself. This place is definitely ran like a “Hometown Kitchen “, and there is nothing appeasing about it. Debris and trash, personal items, open containers and clothing on the counter where customers orders are bought out and opened for accuracy and condiments are pick out for the customer, not to mention cross contamination as they come from the kitchen to eating to playing in their hair, back to the kitchen all with the same disposable gloves on, so the experience was more like the ” kitchen sink”. I observed all of this while waiting on my order. However, I requested a refund, which, owner found absurd, but was so kind to honor my request. For this reason I gave them 2 stars, as it was definitely greatly appreciated. I sincerely hate that this had to be my experience. I do understand that some of our professionalism and level of standards are greater than others. We must do better! 0/10 I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

If you want home cooking, this is it! The fried green tomatoes are wonderful and not greasy. The hamburger steak was done but not dry. The mashed potatoes are not boxed. The candied yams are -wow good! Food is seasoned just right. You don’t reach for the salt shaker. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should!
