I adore food, and I also enjoy going out to try places I haven’t been to before. I don’t usually write things like this, so please take it with a grain of salt. For this review, I have my own preference for food, so I will mainly focus on my personal tastes and experiences.

Finally a high quality Korean BBQ that’s worth going to. To level set, this isn’t your “Honey Pig” or “Iron Age” meaning you aren’t going here for cheap/volume meat grilling. The quality of meat and dry aged beef was definitely well above other KBBQ restaurants in the DMV/NOVA.

The restaurant’s atmosphere was really nice. It wasn’t too busy, which allowed us to eat and not feel rushed to hurry up for the next table. The food was good, but we could’ve used some other type of seasoning, herbs, or sauce options other than salt.

Bucking the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) kbbq options in the immediate Centerville vicinity stands Honest Grill. While my state of food despair may influence my decision to come back to eat here or an AYCE place, one thing will always be true – whenever I’m craving an upscale meat, I’d much prefer eating at Honest Grill over Morton’s or Ruth Chris’s steakhouse if I’m around the Centerville and Fair Lakes area. At kbbq establishments, each bite of meat is covered on all 6 sides in it’s own fat-flavor crust versus the classic Americanized steakhouses where one large piece of steak can receive on no more crust than on 2 sides and the dinner experience can end up in ruins if the timing on the grill is off. But at kbbq, each bite of meat can be cooked in a range of doneness with lower chance left to wasting the meat due to bad timing.

The place feels upscale. The meats were high quality and the staff is very friendly. They have tons of side options too.

You know you are in a finer KBBQ establishment the moment you walk through Honest Grill’s doors. The host greeted me warmly and seated me right away. The decor inside is sleek, modern, an clean.

This place has been getting pretty good reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. We did not go on their special night, which I think is on Mondays and Tuesdays. That said, this place is very expensive! For myself I only ordered a bowl of the spicy beef soup that was very delicious and only $16. From there everything else was $30 approx per cut of meat if you wanted to do a la carte. There is a special that is 150 dollars, but it is only for 20 oz of meat. Which Denis does not seem like a good value even if this was extremely high-quality beef. My dinner friends did end up getting a couple different cuts that they thought was delicious but definitely not worth the price. Also, the staff was quasi friendly but had an air of pretentiousness about them, and didn’t really make me feel at home. Probably won’t ever go back.

Excellent meal and dining experience at honest grill. The quality of the meat was exactly as advertised, excellent prime quality and amazing dry age flavor. The bonchon (sides) that came with the premium beef guide were good, but I really enjoyed the soy bean soup (my buddy was right we slept on it). All in all, the service was so great, I really recommend anyone who likes high end dining to try honest grill out. It will certainly leave you feeling well fed and taken care of!

Now I understand why people call it the Ruth’s Chris version of Korean BBQ. ;))
