My family loves this place! Our favorite place at home closed a couple years ago and we have missed it. I have been looking for general tso’s tofu from a different restaurant since then. I was glad to see it on the menu! My husband ordered the pad thai, and my kiddos always get general tso’s chicken and sweet and sour chicken. This visit I got the wonton soup when I saw it at another table. It was great! We come here every time we visit Madison now.

This is my second time coming to Hong Kong Kitchen. They were fast! The food was amazing. It’s a MUST when visiting Madison Indiana.

It’s a fairly small, very clean place with an elegant but comfortable decor, where you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. They have all the usual Chinese fare plus a number of Thai dishes. I had General Tso’s Chicken (they also have Gen Tso’s Tofu– a vegetarian option?) and Hot & Sour soup, while my Lady had Pad Thai and steamed Pot Stickers. It was all VERY tasty. The pot stickers were not very warm but they were nicely seasoned, almost didn’t need the delicious sauce that came with them. My soup was well- seasoned and very, very spicy– made my eyes water! The Gen Tso’s was only a little spicy, and lightly breaded so you could really taste the chicken. The Pad Thai was perfectly cooked. Service was great, too. We will definitely be back.

I ordered beef lo mein, seschuan chicken, and crab Rangoons. The Rangoons were good by themselves, but the sauce they provided tasted like Heinz 57 ketchup but watered down. The seschuan chicken was okay, not a ton of flavor but was fine. The beef lo mein on the other hand was not beef lo mein. I got the “beef” lo mein before my family got their food. I immediately noticed it didn’t look like beef. “That’s weird” I thought, but I tried it anyway. It didn’t taste like beef. I waited for them to bring the rest of our food and told them, “hey I think this is pork not beef.” The lady then said “no it’s beef.” “No, it’s definitely not beef.” I replied. she then argues further, “this is definitely beef!” She runs off in huff to the kitchen. She comes back and places RAW meat in a container on our table along with what appeared to be ground pork. The meat was far too pink to be beef, it easily could have been pork, goat, or lamb. Definitely not beef. “SEE THIS IS THE PORK THIS IS THE BEEF!” She exclaimed reaching into both with a single hand. “Okay, whatever.” I reply. Maybe the rest of our food would be good, despite her cross contaminating food right in front of us. My mom ordered peanut butter chicken and fried rice. She liked the peanut butter chicken, but the rice? It was awful. It tasted like melted plastic. My sister ordered the general tso’s and fried rice. The general tso’s was good, but again the rice was awful.

Great establishment it is one of the better restaurants in the area . The staff was very kind and accurate with the order . One thing though a person may miss the location because another eatery drapes in front of it with tables .

I travel a lot so I’m always trying different Chinese spots but this experience was on of my worst. I did read some reviews before ordering and saw people saying the lady at the front was rude but still saw reviews saying the food was good. After experiencing both I would say that yes the lady at the front is rude and no the food is not that great go honestly well what I got wasn’t that great. I got the general tso with pork fried rice and fried dumplings the food was not that great that’s as best as I can explain not horrible but I wouldn’t go back
