Chef Bobby and his co-owner Tom did an amazing job revamping the old Brownie’s which was one of my hang outs back in the 80s

Raw chicken served!!!! Really excited to try this place. Seeing chef Bobby on channel 2 over the years. Sunday football down at eastern market. First the menu was limited. No drink menu. No frozen drinks. Water bar and no blender….. main dinning room is all remodeled. The huge bar in the center of the dinning room is too much. Trying to be fish bones. Outside area not much has changed. Tables look refurbished. Now to the food. Menu has each price for the oysters, but told i had to order in quantities of 6. Cocktail sauce was premade. I prefer fresh horseradish & ketchup I can mix to my liking. Overall that was the best dish. Fish and chips served a huge piece of fish with a crust that was a little greasy and no flavor. Nothing special about the fries. Now for the worst part. Raw chicken. See the pictures. Big no no to serve raw chicken. Over cook it. Never serve it raw. Looked great overall, but the presentation was too much and the focus, not making sure the food was actually cooked. I will not be back. The Vivian the manager was nice and came over. Our entire bill should’ve just been comped or a gift certificate to come back. Something. Food is also very over priced. A small draft beer $7.

My wife and I ate at Hook yesterday for our anniversary. We had a 6PM reservation for 2 and we’re seated immediately. We started with cocktails which were perfect. The service was attentive and super friendly. The bread basket has a fantastic Basalmic garlic butter!

Chef Bobby Nahra has redesigned Brownies into an elevated seafood sensation that I’m sure will take off soon! Relaxed, clean, and sophisticated, the menu has something for everyone. The sushi was out of this world, the oysters were extremely fresh and cold, the crab cakes were ‘the bestin my life’ exclaimed my boyfriend, and the lentil dish was amassed with fresh roasted veggies, homemade hummus, and arugula!

The new ambience of the re-mod is exactly what this building needed! As a Long time scs resident, I appreciate the finer dining and clientele this has attracted! Chef Bobby never fails to impress – The burger is a must try with its oozy cheese fall off the sides and perfect amount of greasy goodness its unmatched! The wild mushroom ravioli is a perfect blend of bold mushroom and cream sauce. All of the food is fresh and well presented. If you havnt been, you need to go!

I visited this location often when it was Brownies. For Hook’s opening week, I have to say I’m highly impressed. They were booming for Fathers Day however the service never lacked. When I made reservations, I requested a water view table and they accommodated with no issues. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming from the gentlemen doing valet and the young ladies hosting, to the wait staff and even the owner (we got to introduce ourselves and chat with him and his wife). They still have the huge outdoor patio waterside for dining but the interior is simply BEAUTIFUL; chic and modern yet gives you that “off the water” ambiance. Starting with the sushi, you just can’t go wrong with a fresh bar. The California roll was delicious. For my entree I ordered the filet mignon with asparagus and confit potatoes. My mother ordered a steak as well and my step father ordered the mushroom ravioli. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned moderately. Not overpowering, yet flavorful and high quality ingredients. I’m extremely satisfied and will for sure be returning, as they get established I’m confident the experience will only get better.

We made reservations online for tonight not knowing it was their soft opening for friends and family. They welcomed us in and asked to provide honest feedback as this night one. This is a far cry from Brownies, which is not a bad thing by any means. They had a limited menu tonight, but service and revamped atmosphere are fantastic. Love the open concept kitchen where we can see the food being prepped and cooked. Brussels were tasty, sushi rolls were EXTREMELY fresh and delicious. Scallops and mushroom ravioli needed a few tweaks, but overall good. Again, very glad that this type of restaurant is now available on the water in Saint Clair Shores. There are plenty of other places to go for a fried “boater food” as others have mentioned. My guess is that this will likely require reservations to get into in the future or it will consistently have a long wait because of the depth and scope of the regular menu which I can’t wait to come back and try.

Hook is a great addition to the area. Great high end cuisines and menu items that are not common to the waterfront including sushi and sashimi. We attended the soft opening so the menu was limited with plenty of great offerings. We started off with grouper cheeks (first time I’ve seen this), the filet (med rare) on a bed of giant asparagus, the Cruz sushi roll and ended with a cherry tort. Everything presented well and was extremely flavorful! Definitely looking forward to returning to try more food options and experience the outdoor space in the coming weeks. Lastly, they do offer lake access for boats from the marina wells all the way to the lake with a dockhand on staff to assist.
