One of the best things about shore towns is the seasonality and the build up of anticipation for those things that made you happy last summer. Tommy’s is like that. The owner, Bruce, is a fun, people-focused, creative mad scientist that keeps you coming back for more. He chatted with me as I waited for my order to be filled and in that 5-10 minutes he was greeted by name by no fewer than three people and he offered a free bottled water to a bike-mounted police officer. Everything he does here is with care and sincerity. Oh, and then dogs were on point, too. I did Bad Dog Chicago, a Junkyard and my wife did a secret sauce and sweet relish. Wait on the line, chat up your fellow dog lovers and enjoy the experience. It’s like family.

This is the place! If you are in Cape May and are hungry, want to chat it up with some locals and meet Tommy (which I had the pleasure of) then this is the spot to go to. After being in Cape May for a few days and getting some poor quality food at other restaurants, I decided it was time for a hot dog, not usually what I crave for but I always saw a line and it looked like a chill spot. I should have gone there from the start! It was awesome! The food was great, hot dog with mashed potato on top sounded odd but I figured why not and I very much enjoyed it. Tommy came out to talk to me and was such a cool and nice guy that he offered us a bag of fries just because. A great place to eat and hang out. Very much recommend this place.

This is my go to lunch spot for the whole summer. Beyond the delicious dogs and delightfully daft menu, the service and atmosphere are u matched. I’m always greeted with a smile from the balmy banana taking my order and courtesy care. The few times they did make a slight mistake with my picky request of a cloudless summer shower dog, they were more than apologetic and compensated me handsomely with a chilled peanut butter cup. I relish every time I’m here.

Hot Dog Tommy’s is one of my favorite lunch spots in Cape May! Everyone who works there is friendly & provides exceptional customer service! Do not be intimidated by the line! It goes very quickly! I love their Bad Dog with just raw onions and a side of French fries! I love riding my bike down and grabbing lunch for us! I usually go 2-3 times per trip! Their prices are very reasonable! If you’re looking for a delicious hot dog, look no further than Hot Dog Tommy’s!

A tourist trap with expensive Mac and cheese (not even with hot dog pieces) and no place to sit and eat. I saw the long lines and got sucked in to thinking it was a good idea. Pretty expensive for small cup of Mac and cheese with some bagged fried onions. I took my cup to sit on bench by ocean so overall not a bad experience 🙂

I went to Hot Dog Tommy’s with my girlfriend to grab a few dogs after a day on the beach and while in line, my girlfriend passed out. Bruce immediately came over and helped us – he was incredibly kind and helpful and continued to check up on her as did other staff until she was feeling better. We enjoyed the dogs after getting back to the house, but I cannot say enough great things about Bruce and the staff.

Cannot say enough great things about this place! Went there because of celiac gluten restrictions and was not disappointed. As soon as I said order was for celiac they immediately explained their safety protocols and told me how each item would be prepared and what safety steps would be taken. Easily the best non-dedicated gluten free restaurant I have ever been to for celiac safety.
