Wow it was better than I expected. I got the gladiator burger without the bun, my husband got it with the bun. It was out of this world delish. So much flavor and one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. We also got onion rings which were also amazing. My friend got the fried cluck chicken sandwich and he said it was not anything special. They had picnic tables and umbrellas and the service was great. This is a hidden gem and I absolutely loved it. If you are looking for fast friendly service with amazing food, I highly recommend this place.

I’ve passed this place a million times, but it was never at the right time to stop and eat. I had the opportunity last week with some family in town to stop in for lunch, and I’m glad we did!

A Hot Mess Burger sounds like it’s going to be a hot, drippy down to your elbows, meaty, scrumptious burger, right???? Not this place. Nothing drippy or even good here. My biggest disappointment was that this was a thin and flavorless burger that appeared to be steamed. The meat alone was wet, gray, and had zero grill or sear. Although, The bottom of the bun had been seared or toasted. The next problem was: I ordered it “without cheese” and whomever did the cooking… not only steamed it, but wasn’t reading and loaded it with cheese! I’m not lactose intolerant, and there were people online, so I just ate it, so I wouldn’t have to wait even longer to have another one made. The special sauce that is their version of Thousand Island is just that… Thousand Island or Russian dressing. Nothing different. The sweet tea is Pepsi tea and taste mostly of simple syrup and no tea. I like mostly unsweetened tea and asked for 1/2 cup of sweet tea and a cup of water to dilute it. I’m glad I tasted it first because I didn’t need too much water since there wasn’t much of any flavor of tea to begin with. Speaking of water…. they don’t have bottled water as part of their beverages. What place doesn’t have bottled water for non soda drinkers?? They did have tap water that was doubled filtered. The front counter girl was very friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. She ordered the meal correctly. Hot Mess Burgers is a shipping container converted to make a fast food roadside stand. I generally steer away from fast food, but honestly, I’d rather eat at McDonald’s or Burger King for better flavor. Parking is good. And they do have dining tables. But the tables are outdoors only. So if you want AC or a bug free environment… this place is not for you. My biggest takeaway is….. the burger was terrible. I won’t be back, and I won’t recommend them to anyone.

This place was the bomb! Fries were on point with the crispiness! Absolutely delicious. My wife and I also grabbed some onion rings and they were nice too. I had the double burger with the hot mess and it was an awesome meal! We want to come back and try some more items on the menu!

An unexpected but very welcomed surprise to find Hot Mess Burgers on the side of the road. I ordered the Big Red Melt and the Fried Cluck sandwiches. The Big Red Melt is a stunner, an absolutely perfect sandwich. It is tasty, crunchy, satisfying, and whatever else you want to call it. I could eat them several times a week and not become bored. The Fried Cluck was, unfortunately, a one bite and done sandwich. A fresh fried piece of chicken, maybe Korean fried style, would elevate the sandwich to be on par with the Big Red Melt.

After driving past this place for ages, and then happening to pick up an order as a delivery driver, I had extremely high expectations of this place. It smelled absolutely amazing each time they opened a window, and the menu looked amazing.

Work took me to the Midland area and I passed by Hot Mess Burgers. When I saw the place I knew I need to give them a try. I looked them up, read their story, saw the menu and read numerous good reviews. Finally, yesterday I was back in the area and able to stop in! I got the burger and fries and both were EXCELLENT! The burger is a thinner burger fresh and lots of flavor. The lettuce and tomato were good, crisp and fresh and the bun was good as well. They have a “special sauce” which was excellent on the burger. The fries are fresh cut style and we’re nice and crispy, without me asking. They had salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese on them. I can’t wait to go back and give the fried bologna sandwich a try!
