I went to this restaurant yesterday evening, after arriving in town. I brought small stew chicken, small jerk chicken, three chicken patties and large oxtail(which I believe was not even oxtail)… I PAID 67.60…. 1st impression they didn’t greet us at all( there was a young women and an older man at the register) After about 5mins we were acknowledged. I ordered the food and waited for my food. We ate the chicken patties while waiting for the other food( they were okay). I heard another customer mention the large oxtail and you only recieve 5 pieces with the orde said she will never order that again. The cost of a large oxtail is $26! When my food came out I checked, there was only 5 oxtails FOR $26!!! The food was cold/warm like they tried to microwave it. I asked the young woman why does a large order only come with only 5 oxtails, she replied “I don’t know what that has to do with me” “I dont make the plates”. I asked her if she could get someone who knew…. She then went in the back to grab the older man(from earlier). This made it no better because he was so dismissive of my issue( there was not type of customer service). The older man just stated you only get five and walked off…. So I then asked the girl if I could have a refund, she stated no. So I asked for someone else. The owner came out and told me the price is because oxtail cost went up and he gets his seasonings from Jamaica….. He ended up giving me three extra oxtails(neck bones)…He said he has the best food out there and I would see it is worth the cost once I taste food. I was extremely disappointed …. oxtail, stew and jerky was nasty, not authentic at all. I’ve eaten at over 30 Jamaican restaurants and this by far was the 2nd worst…… Overall food is over priced, customer service is a 0, and definitely not worth a visit! Don’t spend your money where it’s not appreciated and your pockets are being taken advantage of! If I could give a zero I would have!

I paid 20$ for the small jerk chicken and a drink. Took forever to come out. I asked the young lady what was fresh she said everything was fresh and ready except fish. I received my food went back to work and it was old food and I mean old food. They had put sauce on the chicken and just pretended it was fresh. I was shocked. I couldn’t eat one bite. Never will I ever return.

I ordered 2 orders of Rasta pasta. They both had what seemed to be cat hair in them. I examined both plates and then threw them away. I spent almost $50 what a waist. Even if it was chicken hair it should have been cleaned off better there was way too much and stomach turning. I will never eat here again.

Hot Spot offers the best Jamaican cuisine in Albany NY. I’ve been a frequent customer for 8 years and they’ve never disappointed me. They prepare the most delicious steamed & escovitch fish not to mention their jerk chicken, ackee and saltfish, curried goat, etc. I must commend Hot Spot restaurant for promoting a healthy environment and delivering great customer service. It is always a pleasure to invite friends, family & co-workers to Albany’s best Jamaican restaurant. Kudos to the owner/CEO and his amazing staff!

These are 3 different bottles of sorrel. There were a total of 6 in the refrigerator and they all had mold on the external and/or internal. I haven’t been here in a while. Only came because the Jamaican restaurant on Quail and Washington was closed and I’m visiting for the day. If you’re looking for island food, I strongly recommend somewhere else. This place is filthy!
