AVOID! We had to point to what we wanted to order on the menu as the waiter had a difficult time understanding us. He brought out the wrong food. When he did bring us our order, the omelet was overcooked and pancakes were still raw in the middle. We sent the pancakes back to the kitchen. The waiter never brought us our pancakes back. When we got our bill, the pancakes were still on it. Several tables walked out while we were there. Silverware was also not clean. Small portions, terrible service, and very over priced. AVOID!

Food was good but I ordered a hash for breakfast. It was more like meat and potatoes. I used to hash having pulled corn beef mashed up with potatoes which have a distinctive flavor. This was chunks of meat fried into chunks of potato. It was good, but not what I’d consider hash at all. Hash is all of the ingredients hashed into a sort of mushy fried dish. Nothing was mushy at all. The dish was tasty, but not what I consider hash at all. Maybe put it into a skillet to serve, cast iron personal size and call it a skillet dish. I think that fits it more than the hash name. Just a thought. Service was good, friendly and really fast.

How do I put this. Coffee came out cold, didn’t realize it until the first sip, so cream was added. Asked for replacement, they popped it in the microwave, could tell because cream was still there. Asked different person and it explained it again, they just put it in the microwave again. Fourth times the try to get diner coffee out of a pot. Food comes out lukewarm, server continually gave people at the table the wrong items, I don’t know why we didn’t just walk out. They weren’t very good, staff seemed confused at every question. Would not recommend.

We had an excellent breakfast of corned beef hash and scrambled eggs and husband enjoyed an omelet filled with meat. The great thing was no scorching of the eggs like most places do. And corned beef was chunks of meat rather than shredded and barely existing like competing places do. Great food and service!!

Food and service were both very good. It is close but off the Main Street. We got our food very quickly and they have a large dining area. It was great to get out of the busy area for a quiet meal. Prices were pretty reasonable too. We will definitely return.

Went to eat here on memorial day weekend as we do annually. As we were sitting we realized it was no longer Howie’s,it’s now the Dell’s Diner. Staff had all changed decor was gone. Ummmmmm, the waitress we had was very attentive which was the best thing I can say about our visit. Coffee was watery,I ordered biscuits and gravy which I get every time. No sausage was in the gravy at all. The gravy had no flavor as a result. I pointed out to the staff that it says sausage gravy on the menu, the waitress responded ,that’s ok several times. P.s. if you’re out of sausage tell me I would of ordered something else.

We went here many years ago, however when we went here, our apple juice was formented. A 6 year old child drank this, our waitress said that she had a sip of it and said that she thought it was fine. If you have to taste a kids apple juice to make sure it is good, you should not serve it. Worst restaurant in the dells area, so do not go here, I recommend you keep looking.

Worst place to eat at. Now under new ownership and called Dells Diner. Worst service ever lost my order food undercooked sorry. But how can you completely lose an order you repeated back to me then when asked about my food another server came over and apologized for our server losing my order. Sorry but not a good place to come other employees were more concerned about. Other server was outstanding with apologies but not our server

If you would like to sit down right away and eat a decent plate of eggs or pancakes, Howie’s is the place you want to be. Good food, friendly service and it looks like the place the locals frequent, which is always a good indicator of quality.

Not the best place in the dells to have breakfast , it is totally different from how I remembered it back in the 90’s…lol I even believe it was in a different location back then. If I’m correct Howies used to be located where the now upside down White House is, but as far as the service the staff is very polite and the food is average at best. Me personally I would recommend spending a few extra bucks to eat at Paul Bunyan or mr pancake for better food. Howies is not the worst in the dells but it’s not the best they just need and upgrade and updated menu
