I dined here with my friends for dinner during restaurant week. While food selection was okay, the service was very slow. We got our drinks and apps quick but waited over 40 minutes to receive our entrees, only after prompting the management. On a positive side, the desserts were good, I recommend the chocolate cake. Overall, if you enjoy waterfront dining and don’t mind for overpriced food, then it maybe worth a try.

My husband and I had our intimate wedding ceremony on the patio followed by a larger wedding reception inside at Hummingbird last weekend. Kenneth and his team were easy to communicate with and were very attentive during the day. Everything went perfectly. The food was great and the location was wonderful. I would definitely recommend hosting you wedding or other events at Hummingbird.

A very nice spot on the river. Kind of hard to find though. It’s easier to find from the water side than it is over on the street. I spent the day out side where it was very hot, so I was looking for something cool and quick. That salad was really good, and the wait staff were wonderful about making changes to it because of a couple of allergies.

I had lunch on the patio this past Saturday. It was not a great experience. After being seated by a very nice host we waited at least 15 minutes before a server came by. We ordered iced teas, which took at least 15 more minutes to arrive and took three attempts on our part to get straws and sweetener, which I finally procured myself from another table nearby. We had ordered an appetizer and two entrees. All three arrived at the same time which was disappointing. The appetizer was their trio of dips, which were tasty, however the “vegetables” served with the dips were pathetic. About six carrot stick and six celery sticks just thrown on a plate. Not only were the vegetables cut without any finesse or technique, the amount provided was completely inadequate for the amount of dip. We asked for more veg to be able to enjoy more of the dip. When the bill came they changed us extra for the additional dozen boring, poorly peeled, randomly cut carrot and celery sticks.

We ended and started a few of our days here while staying the the hotel. The food was always good and the drinks were better. The staff were all very nice and fun to be around. The view from the restaurant was awesome in the morning looking out over the river. Definitely a location to stop at even if you are not staying at the hotel.

This restaurant is one of Old Town’s fine dinning staple establishments. Anytime I make it to the Waterfront I come to grab a bite and cocktail here. Fantastic location, view, decor, staff, and of course drinks and food. Today we had lobster bisque and Hummingbird cake, both were delicious, high quality and great recommendations from our bartender. I also enjoyed an excellent gin cocktail recommendation from staff and wow great choice! I cannot wait to be back, always excellent energy and delicious bites.

We hosted our wedding reception at the Hummingbird restaurant in June 2022. Kenneth and his team exceeded expectations and made sure everything was perfect for our special day! We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all our guests on the venue, the food, and the staff! We are so pleased that we went with Hummingbird for our wedding and we would recommend it to anyone who is planning their wedding in Old Town Alexandria!

We came to Hummingbird for Alexandria Restaurant week but ended up ordering off their regular menu. Our table overlooked the Potomac River, our waiter Vlad was excellent, and the atmosphere of the place was really nice. The Heirloom Tomato salad as an appetizer was outstanding (the peaches!). My vegetarian fiancée loved the Ratatouille (with a side of pasta!) for her meal and I went with the Spanish Mussels with Shrimp which were delicious. For dessert, we topped it off with the Hummingbird Cake, which contains pineapple, honey, banana, lemon and generally tastes amazing. Highly recommend and we will be coming back!
