The is restaurant has never failed to exceed my expectations when it comes to the awesome way that they prepare the Chinese food. I’ve come to this location a few times, and each and every time they have hit the mark. My friend and I came here early today for a nice lunch, and by the time that we arrived there was only one group of customers seated at a table. We grabbed the next table that was available and placed our order right away. I order the beef and broccoli, because it’s always been my go-to when it comes to Chinese food. My friend ordered the black pepper chicken meal. It took the guys in the kitchen less than eight minutes to prepare our food, and we were ready for t! After a couple of bites of the beef and broccoli I knew what my taste buds had been missing. It was gosh darn deliciousness!

I ordered take out from here last night and I was so impressed with Hunan’s COVID procedures – they were more cautious than what I’ve seen anywhere else. You speak at a speaker outside the door (it’s a small place so you can still see each other) and then they bring your food and leave it in a table right outside the door (where they also sullied hand sanitizer. AND the food was delicious!! The kung pao bean curd was fairly mild so I will definitely order it spicier next time, but the flavor was very tasty. My dad loved his egg fu yung! Definitely will be returning.

Our go to Chinese take out place! People are friendly, generous portions, and good food. We’ve ordered their lunch specials and for dinner too. Has a great range of options from std Chinese take out to hearty noodle soups you can customize. Was so happy this place opened (and they said they opened at the start of the pandemic – glad they made it through!).

The food is decent and the restaurant is generous with portions. But… we ordered for delivery and the food never arrived. I called twice. They had the order, but not a driver. Took an hour and a half to get our food. By then it was cold, congealed and not very appetizing. Dinner was late and ruined. If you can’t pick-up, don’t bother.

This was probably the worst quality Chinese carryout food I’ve had in years so maybe I’ll give them another shot and see if things changed and the food is better quality or if i went on an off day and was unlucky. Having said that I’m not sure how this little carry-out place has all these 4 and 5 star reviews, people must’ve received free food, or the people reviewing have no idea what your typical American Chinese carryout food and quality should be. I ordered a lunch special Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. The chicken was of very poor quality and the sauce was not good, the fried rice was also poor quality and not prepared well. Food was not yummy at all. The egg roll was tiny for a Chinese carryout place, not made in house and of cheap poor quality. If they can’t even do a decent Kung Pao chicken then I’d imagine the rest of the food is pretty similar with poor quality ingredients and lack of cooking with love. I wasn’t impressed at all, poor quality and not prepared well to the standard of even an average American Chinese carryout place, so that’s why they don’t even get 2 or 3 stars because their food was below average in my opinion.

Hunan Express is the go to place for Chinese carryout in Mclean! We always order Spring Rolls, Mongolian Beef, combination fried rice, Beef and Broccoli or Hunan Chicken. Consistently delicious and tasty. They are friendly and provides you great delivery service.

Outstanding food! Second time ordering delivery. It was on time and very hot. Ordered sweet and sour pork which had crispy breading instead of the usual bland over breaded soggy pork from other restaurants in the area. Also ordered cashew chicken and moo shi pork. Also outstanding food. Nicely seasoned and not over salted. Soups were great. Surprised that sweet and sour pork did not include vegetables or fruit. Most area Chinese restaurants have pineapple, cherries, carrots and peppers included.
