Was in the area and craving Chinese food and found this one nearby. Decided to give it a try since our favorite spot had closed their seating area during Covid and really wanted to sit down and enjoy our meal. The service was very good, friendly hostess and waiter. We ordered the steamed dumpling appetizer with the assumption that the main dishes may take a little longer. The main dishes actually ended up coming out first which was strange but a nice surprise, dumplings came out shortly after. Overall food was good, service was great, place looked ok but if your looking for a quick meal it’s a good spot to stop by. The only thing is the menu is a little limited which can be a good thing or a bad thing but I’m definitely used to seeing a few more classics on the menu that were not being made at this place.

We went on Christmas Day and they were completely slammed! Workers were almost running trying to get everyone’s orders, drinks, seated etc. The food was slow to come out but we didn’t mind because obviously this was a different situation due to it being a day when most places are closed. The Happy Family plate was really good and the fried rice was tender and flavored well. My husband ordered the Kung Pao chicken it has a lot of peanuts on it next time we will ask for no nuts. Rangoons are a little more on the sweeter side and the egg rolls were really good. I don’t recommend the sweet tea it was just like sugar water there was hardly any actual tea in it. The employees were really friendly and definitely hard workers.

All the food was bland. The inside of the egg rolls were complete mush and tasted…off. The wonton soup was dark and so I thought it would have a lot of flavor, but it tasted like water mixed with a tiny bit of chicken broth and some salt. The beef and broccoli was also bland but fixable with a couple dashes of soy sauce. The fried rice was decent.

We have been dining at Hunan Ranch several times over the past couple of years, and they are pretty good. However, on Sunday, 6/25/23, something tragic happened to me as I was eating here with my husband, mother, and brother! My husband and I ordered General Tso’s chicken, requesting NO spice, to share. Our waitress appeared to be a new employee, who I had not seen before and spoke very little English. It tasted good, but after a few bites, my throat suddenly swelled up and felt like it was on fire! My brother saw the fear in my eyes and then asked if I was choking. I was scared because I could not breathe or speak at first. My husband told me to remain calm, while I was trying to keep from hyperventilating. I grabbed tea, kept drinking and finally was able to speak. My throat remained on fire for at least 10 minutes, and the burning sensation spread to my tongue and upper lip. The waitress was a bit busy and did not come to ask me what was wrong. She only came by to ask if we wanted more tea about 15 minutes later. I noticed that most of the staff were employees I had not seen before and were gathered in a group talking at the front center of the restaurant for several minutes. I would hate to think what would have happened to me if I was dining there by myself and was not approached by the staff for a long time after having such a violent reaction. My husband and brother said they ate something very hot which caused their mouths to burn for about 10 minutes, too. Maybe there were some hidden peppers that we did not see? Were they added to our meals by mistake? I have never had that happen to me in my 50+ years, and we had asked them not to add any spices to our meal. I refused to eat any more and now am afraid to eat here again, which is a shame since it is a nice restaurant near where we live. Eat here at your own risk!

My wife and I went for lunch. I ordered Gen tso chicken and she ordered chicken with snow peas. My soup hot n sour and her soup wonton were both delicious. My Gen tso was also very good. My wife’s chicken n snow peas, the chicken didn’t seem cooked enough and the water chestnuts were spoiled, you could taste and smell they were spoiled. When I let the waiter know , he took the food and asked if she wanted anything else. My wife ordered 2 egg rolls. I thought they would take off the bad meal, but only took off half and charged for the egg rolls. Not very good customer service.
