Best service I’ve had in town, thank you!! The toasted coconut pineapple and butter pecan ice cream were DELICIOUS! Hot wings were magnificent and crispy, the shack sauce met my spice level. Cheeseburger was juicy and fulfilling. I am definitely coming back to have the baby back ribs

Last night, after a long day of cleaning, packing and a 5-hour drive, we finally stopped for supper in Poncha Springs, selecting the Hunger Shack, right next door to the gas station What a great choice! Wow! Terrific burger, yummy and spicy philly steak in a bun, and THE best, hottest, crispiest and tastiest french fries this (or that) side of the Mississippi! The price was very reasonable and the quantities enormous! We met the manager, who warmly welcomed us, and let us eat inside in a charming dining area, as a storm was brewing outside and the wind was too strong to sit outside. When we left, we realised it was way past closing time and they had never said a word when they took our order….just whipped up a fantastic dinner! Good service, great food and Colorado friendliness are NOT dead..they are alive and well at the Hunger Shack in Poncha Springs! (PS Thank you, sir, for the choc. Mint chip ice cream cone..my fave!)

Service is outstanding and friendly staff. The only problem is the quality of the meat in the hamburger. Not 100% beef. Has lots of filler. Seemed more like the frozen bulk hamburger patties you buy at Sam’s. If the meat had been better it would have been a great burger.

3 months ago we stopped in for lunch and ordered 1 cheeseburger and a double cheeseburger, they came with fries. The buns were fresh and not too fluffy.

In all honesty, I had high expectations after reading the reviews and therefore was kinda disappointed to find that the food was kinda run of the mill. The ribs were tender as you would hope or expect but we’re not falling off the bone and no sauce options were offered. A dry rub is good for some but I prefer some lathered up ribs myself. The Reuben was good and different than most but was kinda disappointed to find that either the Russian dressing was left off or that very little was used. In my opinion it is the combination of ingredients that make the sandwich and when one is not present or able to be tasted then the product is lackluster. Last, I’m not sure what the bathroom situation was as it was either completely broken or they only had outhouses to begin with. Either way, we opted to walk 50 yards over to a neighboring gas station to use the bathroom and wash up.

I have lived down the road from this place for a while and never been stopped by after work tonight and met Donny, who promised the best Reuben I’ve ever had. Explained how he made the meat and every ingredient from scratch, man wasn’t lying it was THE BEST DAMN RUEBEN in the history of Reubens. My only complaint is that I was probably one of the last customers, it’s closed and I can’t go get another Rueben. Buy three, keep two, drop one off to me !

We pulled in a little before closing time. The price of the meal shocked me, but we were hungry and didn’t want gas station snacks. When I ate the burgers and fries, I understood why they’re expensive. I have never had such a great burger or great fries before. They are definitely worth checking out!
