The Hungry Drover is well worth the diversion from the beaten path. The two breakfast menu items we tried (Southern Benedict and Baked French Toast) were both delicious; the servers were helpful and hospitable; and the atmosphere was country-chic pleasant. Ours was ~$30, tip-included. When one considers that Waffle House is ~$25 for MUCH less food and, let’s face it, much less artfully-plated, this is a good value. I reiterate: Our servings were enormous, and unless you really are a hungry drover, you could consider sharing these particular items.

This is the best “meat and 3” around here!. The fried green tomatoes were perfect. The Mac and cheese was excellent. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved eating here as a family with young children. The food is incredible and well priced and the atmosphere is nostalgic, warm, and homey. The servers went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of – offering coloring pages, getting a highchair, bringing out extra plates for our kids without being asked, adding free extra fruit snacks to go with their meal, etc. Will definitely be coming back and bringing others along.

Visiting from up north and found this great spot. Great food, great service, great prices, and a ton of food for the price! The food is very filling.

As a business traveler this was a awesome find. Brings me back to mom and grandma’s restaurant. Vegetables were homemade and not from a can. Prices are very reasonable. A little off the beaten path but worth the drive.

I really enjoyed my visit to The Hungry Drover. The walls are decorated in art and pictures that are for sale, but really highlight the history of Travelers Rest. There is also an explanation of what the word ‘drover’ means, and how it contributed to the establishment and growth of TR. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Farm to fork takes on a whole new meaning here! Really a great place!

Oh my gosh, what a hidden . It’s my new favorite breakfast place. Their pancakes were so fluffy, fried bologna sandwich was delicious, coffee was good, and the portions were generous. Can’t wait to go again and try new dishes.

A great little breakfast place! Service is great, food is fast and good! With two kids this was easy and great family breakfast and we will continue to go back! Tonya continues to make the experience amazing for us! She deserves a raise! T runs around serving and doing so much and yet still makes you feel relaxed and is so warm and friendly making it an amazing experience!

After driving by many times, we finally got the opportunity to stop in and enjoy breakfast at The Hungry Drover. The staff was extremely nice, helpful, and attentive. We order two hungry drovers with bacon AND sausage, and their yummy homemade toast. We also ordered French Toast. The food was perfect, and the bread was like no other. Homemade and delicious. We had regular coffee and they did a fabulous job keeping it filled. The French Toast we took home and it was decadent! We cannot wait to come back for a second visit & try their Friday night supper.
