This is a solid and suitable option for bánh mì, roast duck, and more snacks! (also very affordable).

Huong Lan offers a lot more than just Vietnamese sandwiches. As far as I know, they are the only place that makes a bbq pork, egg and lap cheong (Chinese preserved sausage) banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich). I only noticed it after ordering my usual #1 ham and pate banh mi $6. I also got their banh cuon (steamed rice noodle) cha lua (Vietnamese ham) $10. Huong Lan also have a BBQ meats section, bakery, drink station and hot food area. This is my spot for a great banh mi. It is always delicious. No line at 3:15pm on a Sunday! Love these folks.

We had the pork combo. It was very reasonably priced. The roll was big but the meat was skimpy. I would pay a little more to add more meat next time. I think they charge a dollar more for additional meat. Will try again next time & see if it is better with more meat.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. The BEST banh mi’s, and I always get the #1 ham and pate sandwich. I really like the desserts as well, specifically the agar jello.

The best Viet Sandwich in San Jose IMHO. The bread is crispy and soft. The peanut spread is delicious. I typically ask for extra spread.

They sell other stuff, but as the name suggests, it’s mostly about the vietnamese sandwiches. There is Lee’s Sandwiches around these parts, and there is Huong Lan Sandwiches. Take your pick. Having said that, I can’t actually tell you why this place is better or worse than others for these Sandwiches. But we come here, we get their sandwiches, and we leave satisfied. Pretty simple.

I have been a regular at the Tully Rd Huong Lan since my teenage years (1990’s). So that is 30 solid years of dining there.
