Gem of a restaurant ! So happy to find this place by Balboa pier ! Delicious authentic Italian restaurant ! Amazing find before our sunset cruise in Newport. Almost missed this place, because the reviews are a few points lower than other spots in the area but let me tell you it’s a good thing we walked by and ended up eating dinner here. The good was wonderful, staff and service excellent, and the place itself was very low-key in terms of the crowd. We didn’t order drinks, couldn’t find something on the beer menu I wanted to try but they do have a bar and a lot of wine options classified by variety on the menu. Tiramisu was a highlight, as it should be in an Italian restaurant. We also got the creme brulee which was immediately devoured. The dessert menu had maybe 10 options!

Service 100% eggplant appetizer good. Bread with olive oil great. I wished the caprese used a more flavorful tomato. I went out on a limb and tried a chefs recommendation. I should have stayed save but when in Rome. Just a little bit more flavor would have been great.

Tonight’s dinner was absolutely sublime. As a drink, I chose the Pantera Rosa and was delightfully surprised – the texture was smooth, the mixture a delicate balance that pleases the tastebuds but did not overwhelmed the senses. I had the Minestrone, which was delicious. For my main course, I had the Piccata di Pollo al Limone e Capperi. It was sensational. The chicken literally felt like it melted in my mouth and the lemon was just the right amount. It enhanced and did not overpower. The seasonal vegetables that accompanied the main course were done to perfection. I followed up with a dessert named Chocolate Temptation. It was a wonderful cap to the meal. Additionally, all of the staff but especially our server, Giancarlo, were amazing. Giancarlo ensured that we had a lovely and awesome dining experience from the time we walked in the door until the time we left. His recommendations were on point and he was gracious with answering the questions I had. He was amiable, humorous, knowledgeable, and attentive. I would be honored to dine at il Farro again, and I hope Giancarlo would be there to provide service as his presence culminated in a fantastic dining experience.
