Been coming here since it opened and it has always more than satisfied my appetite! The jollof is the best I’ve ever had! It’s the same as the one that was originally served at Chef Eros’ private dining room in Hollywood. I can absolutely say that the quality has remained exceptional while reducing how much it costs. Don’t sleep on the fried plantains and puff puff as well!

Ile Bistro gives you authentic West African flavor with Chef Eros’ special touch. Definitely a must try if you’re in Culver City and you want to electrify your taste buds. The menu keeps expanding so plan on going back often. I also love the fact that everything at Île Bistro can be customized to vegan and vegetarian diets.

I decided to give this place a try because there was a long line at BANG BANG, and I regret my decision immensely. They told me they have ran out of their regular rice but still charged me $2 for the only option left which is the African rice, and another extra $4 dollars for steak. So at the end I was left with a 30$ bill for a rice bowl. When you pay this much the least you expect is a decent quality meal and boy I was disappointed.

Om nom nom nom sooo good. Pay first then find a seat and wait to be in food heaven! Got the rice bowl with the Unity Jollof Rice, roasted chicken, plantains with a side of Suya Chili Oil and all I can say was…. Silence, because I was too busy tearing it up

Expensive for the quantity of food. Got a soup bowl with the catch of the day, carrots, and bean sprouts. The bowl is small with a small single fish fillet, a tiny sprinkling of bean sprouts, and a handful of sliced carrots. So about $24 after taxes. Although Ilé was tasty, other restaurants in the area have better price points and bigger portions.

As a Nigerian, I was expecting so much but honestly it was giving watered down and I don’t think I’m actually the target audience for the food. The rice was dry and undercooked. And the roasted chicken was lightly seasoned at best, the suya spice saved it. The stew sauce is good and definitely elevates the meal without it the meal is under seasoned and dried. I don’t mind supporting but for the price the meal was a disappointment.

I am Nigerian, and yes, this is not the most traditional experience. However, this is a great introduction to Nigerian and West African food in general. I loved the creativity and versatility of the bowls. Naija food is creative and inventive, and this bistro shows the best of that.

This might just be new spot quirks that need to be worked out but. My biggest complaint is the price per quality ratio. I ordered a soup bowl. And it was about $30+ (with a zobo tea which was delicious and extra soup add ons which were definitely not worth the price tag) but I got what tasted equivalent to a $1 ramen you can buy at any vons. Nothing against that flavor profile. I love cheap ramen. When its cheap but this is absolutely not worth the $18 starting price. On top of that the kitchen was all over the place. In the short time I was there I witnessed 2 order issues with other customers. A chef drop a tray of food, twice. And the absolute worst, a chef with gloves scratch his head then go straight back into touching food with said gloves.

As a lover of a Nigerian food, attending Nigerian church meals and my best friends’s naija family get together, I love the brand and what Ile Bistro stands for, making Nigerian food accessible to Culver City. That said- I was very disappointed by the Jollof rice and the food quality. I decked out my plate and spent a whopping $35 dollars- and I don’t mind spending the money so happy to support- but my Jollof rice was like rock rice , crispy and not fresh. I’m not sure how the rice is being stored. The food looked and tasted like it wasn’t fresh- and the experience of the food was underwhelming. Mind you I was not expecting restaurant quality farm to table- since it is bistro style. That said- the flavors were there, and I understand they just opened.
