Love that Illegal Pete’s came to the East Denver neighborhood! We love stopping by to grab a couple drinks and/or food throughout the week. Great patio. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Mel is amazing behind the bar!! She makes great margaritas and always offers some great conversation. There is live music, a great patio, trivia on Thursdays, kids and families are welcome all the time, regulars from the neighborhood and people visiting. It’s a real community gem!! Great food and drinks. Good happy hour and specials. Bring your ID and an empty stomach! Say hi to Mel and Brad for being awesome.

I’ve been going to Illegal Pete’s since 2011. I’ve always been impressed with the Park Hill location ever since they opened a little while back. While the food is consistently good, I’m most impressed with the level of customer service that the fine folks at Illegal Pete’s provide. Every single employee has always been friendly, personable, and extremely helpful every time I’m in the restaurant.

This is the best Illegal Pete’s in the state!! Seriously, I would drive the extra miles just to have this type of customer service. I specifically want to call out Bud for making our experience SO amazing. What I loved the most was I brought my 3 year old here who is extremely shy, Bud asked her what she’d like on her Taco and she just pointed. Bud wasn’t rude or anything. He was extremely patient and so kind and helpful. Definitely come here! All of the employees are amazing as well as is the food.

This review isn’t in regards to food or the service at the food counter. This is solely in reference to the crazy rude bartender. I noticed she was being rude to other customers before even ordering and overheard people talking about how nasty she was. The restaurant apparently has some very strict rules about not accepting expired IDs (which is totally fine! I don’t need a margarita THAT BAD!), not allowing anyone without a valid ID to even hold a drink for their partner who is wrestling a toddler (actually yelled at me to “put the drink down on the bar now!”), and not allowing children to play on the patio even well supervised (again shouting across the busy patio). The bartender could have easily enforced all of these rules politely even though they’re pretty intense. If she had, I still probably wouldn’t want to go back because it was so unfriendly to children. But this bartender was so nasty about all of it that we just left after eating about 2 bites. She was made a scene in the restaurant 3 different times and was clearly on a power trip.

Like most Illegal Pete’s I’ve been to, the food is great and the staff is just straight up awesome. I don’t know what the company does to hire/retain such goofy friendly people, but it’s working well. This was my first time at this location, and I will definitely be back next time I’m in the neighborhood and have a hankering for a burrito.

Terrible portion size on burrito bowl, almost laughable…reached out to the store email prior to a review to inform the management, they responded apologized said they would send a gift card but never did. Additionally, it’s 50/50 chance if you get beans they thrown 3-4oz of bean water without straining it before it goes in your food…mmm bean water…delicious.

Love this place! The food is always good and the bar has a good selection of beer. They have a nice patio to hang out on when it is nice out. Definitely worth checking out. Pepsi products are in the fountain machine for those that are interested.
