Burmese food isn’t super common in most cities outside of Indianapolis, where the Greenwood area has a massive number of immigrants from Myanmar (especially people of Chin ancestry). Imbi’s menu boasts delicate flavors and a sensational mix of textures. In addition to excellent fish based rice noodle tapas/salads (“thoke”), a standout here is the laphet thoke (tea leaf salad); unlike many other restaurants whose tea leaf salads feel congested with salt and MSG, the flavors at Imbi are light and bright, combining fermented tea leaves (hello, caffeine!) with fresh garlic and the crunch of green chilis, cabbage, dried shrimp, sesame seed, and roasted nuts, swimming in a tide pool of tomatoes, lime, and subtly pungent fermented fish and fish sauces. What a treat for the senses!

We ordered seven different dishes and every single one was phenomenal! I highly recommend the crispy pork—it was a must try! The kangkung (we know it as ong choy) was also very good. They served a coconut rice with a lunch special, and it was a flavor I’ve never had before! The Burmese sweet tea had a really hearty milk flavor that paired well with the saltier dishes. Their samosas caught me by surprise, and their jasmine tea was free and flavorful! This is the best restaurant in Greenwood!

Pad Thai taste was horrible. Smell and taste like cockroaches. We had to throw all of it. What a waste ! Fry rice & Crispy pork is fine but we do not satisfied. Need more improvement…. .

Simple but authentic place that I wish we had found earlier. Good food for a fair price. We will be back.

Wonderful small neighborhood restaurant. Great south east Asian food. Great service. Large portions made fresh. Make sure to get there early as they close at 7 pm. My wife and I went before the movie.
