More authentic than a real yakitori restaurant in Tokyo! Loved omakase yakitori that had liver, neck, and of course, negima (thigh with leek). Meyer lemon-hi was my favorite drink.

Interesting, rare, and authentic Japanese restaurant. It’s so hard to find such a deep cut into Japanese cuisine in the United States. Never thought I would see an izakaya place here.

This is definitely a place to revisit once every few weeks if you’re looking for a light and savory meal. Out of the many Japanese yakitori places, this place takes the cake for making chicken yakitori. If you get a chance, order the chicken shoulder skewer, or get the chef’s recommendation. Sashimi wasn’t the best because the spotlight was definitely on the other dishes. Desert was light enough after a heavy meal, and the atmosphere is unique & comfortable enough for eating alone or as a couple.

A very pleasant experience. Japanese cuisine is not something I eat a lot of (sushi-aside) but everything here was well prepared. The skewers were maybe lacking in some flavour/seasoning to my tastes but the service was very good and I would recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Berkeley. I was in the area for a concert (Del Amitri at Cornerstone) and am glad we picked this as our pre-concert meal.

A little disappointed… for both service and food. We called around 8:30pm to see if there would be spot available and the reception told us there should be openings around 9pm. So we came and was not able to get seated until almost 10pm. Food was served extremely slow… we finished our meal around 11:30pm. Not sure why even brining a bottle of sake took them half an hour??? And we were notified fries rice is sold out after the kitchen no longer took any order. Food wise… beef tongue is so over cooked… chicken meat is about average. The only one I would recommend is cherry bacon… rare combo but tastes good. Overall not recommended… too expensive for what you get.

Tasty izakaya just around the corner from Shattuck avenue. Has a variety of seating from booths, pseudo tatami room tables, and two person benches. Very nice signature citrus Sochi cocktail. Draft beer choice limited— only 2 selections available out of five listed. Somewhat expensive for relatively small portions. Squid ink fried rice very tasty as was karage and kabocha tempura. Tsukuni (sp), ground chicken skewer, was dry though. Would not order again. Service friendly if a bit brusque.

Good izakaya experience. If you’re craving good chargrilled skewers, this will hit the spot. Their omakase and house special chicken skewers are top notch-dont skip those. Nice ambience too, reminiscent of a ‘alleway in Japan’ vibe.

What a great find. Friendly staff with great recommendation for beer – it was exactly what I wanted. The food was excellent, perfectly grilled and balanced seasoning. The restroom was clean which is a great sign for the level of cleanliness of this establishment. I have my dog with me so we got the cool seats at the open space right at the entrance, the floor was clean and she loves hanging out there with us as well. This location is a short 1 block from UC Berkeley what a beautiful campus. I will be back.
