We are from AL, traveling to a family gathering in Texas. I was able to call in an order ahead of time for tamales.

Small breakfast and lunch spot. Nothing fancy but good food. Don’t pass it up based on the looks, it’s worth stopping.

Hidden gem in an old gas station building.

This is definitely one of those roadside places that you could easily miss if you’re not actively looking for it! The outside looks like a gas station with no pumps, a “Cafe” sign on the awning, and an “Open” sign lit up in the window. If you’re there during the lunch rush, you may see 4 or 5 cars/trucks outside parked under the awning.

Driving past, you just might miss it. In an old gas station, at the very Southwest end, is Irma’s. Nothing fancy, just an honest, basic place to eat. You will get a good meal. Irma prepared the ingredients, cooked them, takes your order, serves you, and cleans your table when you’re through. Photogenic? Nope. Good? Yup. You’re going to get a meal just like you would in Irmas’ home. And I would rather eat at Irmas’ than the nicest restaurant in Dallas; or anywhere else for that matter. This is where I’m comfortable.

Great little spot for quality Mexican fare. Family run and these folks take pride in their product. If you’re nearby, give it a try.
