We had the mussels, scallops, a “gourmet burger” and some deserts. The mussels were very fishy and the sauce was extremely watery, the scallops themselves were good but everything else about the scallops dish was awful. I mean straight up ground corn with lettuce, tomato and scallops? I don’t think so. And don’t even get me started on the burger, just shy of $30, the “gourmet” burger gets you a white hamburger roll which could be sourced from any cheap grocery store, a normal tasting beef patty, a few onions, with some bacon on top, which was all EXTREMELY oily by the way. It also came with maybe 1/2 a medium potatoes worth of mashed potatoes, and some lettuce on the plate. I’ve legit had better burgers for $10, so $30? C’com…. But it isn’t all bad the view and setting is really quite nice, and the waters were very friendly and helpful. I get it’s a small town type place but that is no excuse for the prices they’re charging for what you’re getting.

Beware!!! There is a service charge. The manager literally came over to our table and had to ask us to tip more even thou we paid already plus tip. It’s so rude. If you need to pay your staff more include it in the price. The audacity to come over to our table and ask for more money is so cheap and low brow. If you need a certain pay include it in the price of the meal!

Came here for my friends’ birthday and had the most incredible meal. Everything was perfect from the vibes to the service to the tasty food. I couldn’t ask for more, it was truly everything you want in a dining experience. My friend felt so celebrated. Thank you Scott and co. for a truly special evening.

Had (still having as I’m sitting dockside) an amazing meal. Wonderful food and service. Very kid friendly. Attentive and caring staff. Mussels and steamers were hot, fresh and delicious. Kids menu was amazing I had to taste it myself LOL! 10/10 Highly recommended.

Scott, the owner, took such care of us and all the food was lovely. The bus boy was conversant and conscientious. We loved our server Victoria! She was the BEST! Eating on the deck and the music was fun. The kale salad w homemade Gorgonzola dressing was delicious and a good portion, which was important to us. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. The other 2 special entrees we ordered were smaller than expected.

We sat on right by the water, which was beautiful. The service was on point, you always felt you were taken care of. We ordered the tuna stack appetizer (amazing!) scallops and flounder and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to go back.

Their rocket fuel drink looked good on picture but it wasn’t that impressive. We had the lobster bisque bowl and the fried calamari as appetizers. Quite frankly I wouldn’t recommend either of them. Definitely recommend the catch of the day, fresh fish served on a bed of lettuce and other vegetables. Service was outstanding!

My family and I come to this place 2-3 times a year. Not sure what transpired this year, but the manager needs some serious refresher training. When our food didn’t come out after 48 minutes, I asked to speak with the manager. (The waiter was very nice and this is totally not his fault at all. He was well tipped afterwards). This fella (manager) shows up and tells me its my fault, since we ordered an appetizer. He storms off the table, to return 15 minutes later with our food. I then tried speaking with the manager, outside the table, and he continues to tell me that I am wrong. He gave me an excuse that the chef had to be taken to the hospital on an emergency, that’s why our food was delayed. What a lame excuse. I never cursed or raised my voice, but this manager needs to be trained on people skills. Or, better yet, find a job in another industry.

Windows on the Sea
They’ve continued to make improvements to the Mermaid and it shows. Now they have a permanent outdoor tent that would be great for inclement weather. Service also improved with prompt seating from our reservation (a must in the summer) and immediate waters and server attention. The food also seems to have notched up over the last year (I enjoyed the flounder which was perfectly prepared and flavorful.

Food was good. Went on a Monday, Our first two appetizers of choice were not available. Good atmosphere, The salmon and Brussel sprouts were different but enjoyed. Scallops were very good. Will definitely retun in future.
